I've asked a friend who just finished one about the tailwheel- will report back. (He followed Eduard's instructions, and agrees it looks a little "low".)

Edit: Here's a shot that shows how far down the unit should be relative to the fuselage (no doors fitted), (another angle)

and here's a shot that shows virtually the same angle, but with doors as normal.  (Note that you can see a REALLY big version of this one.)

Some fantastic work going on here Paul, as usual.

The wheel wells look fantastic mate, superb weathering.

Think I might have to get myself one of these, or two!

You’re really kind Craig thanks so much.

There’s some great details in these kits. Some of the fitment is a bit ‘guesstimatey’ rather than tamiya precision though and some plastic feels a bit too thin and fragile for my five thumbs.

Hi dansk. I had a nosey and was wonder what you are suggesting in the last photo is the same as the further back placed one?

If so that would be an excellent solution!

Cheers

Joss

Yes that’s right Joss,  its the reverse side - I think it looks like an improvement too.

Maybe a brass rod from the undercarriage leg through a piece of sprue could give it strength.

A bunch of small stuff on my squadron -

I started sanding and filling on aircraft #1 which I’m rubbish at.

Primed the area to see how it was looking but there’s still a way to go.

Gathered the remaining cockpit components and primed them together with three imperial tie fighters.

2 cockpits will be eduards Löök set and 1 will be PE.

Interesting to see the two löök sets, after the weathering wash and before.

Hard to photograph but it really makes a difference in the flesh.

The main landing gear legs have been assembled.

And most landing gear components are primed and I’ve been testing metallic finishes on them.

And finally the tail undercarriage has got some styrene spacers so it protrudes more.

Today’s offering again doesnt look like much but on 3 planes it kinda adds up.

All the main and tail gear is sorted now, heres a little example

I finished all the varying exhausts - heres an example also

The IP’s are coming to fruition, the gun sights and cockpit lights are next, and the PE version is half complete also

And I’ve been trying a bunch of metallics out on matt and gloss black bases
Seems like alclads are slightly less flecky than xtreme metals.
Hard to photograph though.

They look pretty neat. What's your process with those exhausts?

Stuart

It was an experiment but quite simple. I used black primer, then a red/brown primer on top in parts not totally covering it, then soot weathering powder. (Then sealed with matt varnish)

Very nice production line that you've got there. I would be happy if I progressed with my one build without trouble, but three of them...? With my restoration project alongside I at least deal with 3 different kits at three different stages, so can park them for a while. Looking forward to your result(s).

Happy New Year soon!

Looks great Dansk. Looks like it's sorted the problem.

A little progress on mine but havent had time to document.

Seem to have even less time to model when im not working!

Looking forward to seeing more progress!

All the best
