Greg Law
Can anyone help me work out the aircraft markings for Ken Law's Hurricane which he flew against the northern raids on the 15th of August. He was with 605 squadron flying as number three in blue flight. He shot down a He 111 with, but was damaged in the process and attempted to land in a golf course. This resulted in the Hurricane ending up on it's back. I'm focusing my Battle of Britain year on this raid.
JackG
You can strike off the possibility of the individual code being A - Battle of Britain Combat Archive series (from Red Kite), has this as Blue 1 on that day. Assuming Ken Law and K Schadtler-Law are the same pilot, they do give an air frame serial of P2717. regards, Jack 1
Grey Beema
I guess you have already done this but did you check the Squadron Operations Record Book (ORB) in the National Archive? You can get a limited view for free but have to pay to download the document.. They can be a bit hit and miss, some Squadrons recorded aircraft letters and some recorded serials.
AndyL
P2717 was coded UP-O. This comes from my copy of Sergeant Leslie Ralls' log book where he recorded serials and individual letters. 2
Greg Law
Thanks guys for the help. Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been distracted finishing my Buchon in the Film GB.
