Joining you with this Airfix 1/72 Mustang.

Airfix-P51-D-Mustan-Green.jpg

This on cost £5 from Aldi in 2018 - and has the wrong decals.

But no worries about that.

Huge thanks to Andyf117, who supplied me with decals for PassionWagon

Nice, did this one for the last STGB though I painted mine using incorrect RAF colours instead of the ANA the original wore

I've not heard of ANA before.  Could you explain a bit further please Stu?

Army/Navy Aeronautical Standard Colours. Conversion charts available for most common brand modelling paints, like over at Cybermodeler. Other charts are available 😉

As Simon says, basically the precursor to federal standard, most if not all ana shades become FS ones. In this case ana613 olive drab and then even earlier Nuetral Grey 43 (though some dispute over this, I might be correct having used raf medium sea grey)

Oh dear, just realised that I forgot to fit the radiator part.

So - onto filleting the tail, Timstyle.

First to mark out and show where to cut,

Airfix-P51tail-1.jpg

then drill a hole to get a radius at the base,

Airfix-P51tail-2.jpg

followed by the actual cutting.

This is what we look like now, preparing to do the seams.

So should I continue.?

So darned obvious I never would have thought of it!  But I'll definitely steal THAT idea.  In fact, this last installment gave me an idea for that wee little Airfix kit that I bought for no very rational reason...

Thanks.   First time I've done that,  next time I'll use a bigger drill though.

I'm liking this Tim, a few touch ups & you'll be putting on the markings. A great tip re the drilled hole for a radius on your fin base, I'll try to remember that one. :)
