Michael Morris
I'm thinking of doing a model of Al Worden's deep space EVA on the return trip of Apollo 15. Does anyone know of any articles that anyone has produced on modelling this subject? Thanks.
Eric Mc
Not that I'm aware of. What scale are you thinking of? Apart from the astronaut figure, I'd say the SIMBAY would be hard to replicate.
Michael Morris
I was probably looking for somewhere between 1/100 and 1/60, so (from my investigations to date) 1/96 or 1/72 look the most likely scales. Yes, the SIMbay looks a bit fiddly to reproduce, but doable. The issue is that many accurate renditions of the CSM are resin kits. I would need an injection moulded base kit for both the Command module (hatch open) and for the Service module (SIMbay). So far the only two suitable donors that I've found are one on Shapeways and the Dragon kit. Both are rather pricey. Eric Mc
The Dragon 1/72 Command/Service Module is quite nice. You could use one of the AIrfix HO/OO astronauts as a basis for your spacewalking Worden.

However, it is discontinued. I guess my best bet is to wait until 2022 and hope it is reissued for the 50th anniversary of the flight.

Eric Mc
I was having a look around the internet. They are at seriously silly prices at the moment.
