Golf and Mp4/4 are stopped 😕........are stopped because i started a commissioned work to finish at the end of this year (later in first 15 days of January). I started this work in 10 october

The subject is a 1/8 hachette (very poor and detailless model) Lancia Delta Martini.....The person that commissioned me this model ask to me a little work to leave a bit the "toy effect"....so I (re)started to work on this third Delta.

The rally will be the San Remo (italy) 1991, pilot Biasion e co-driver will be Siviero.

So, I started to dismantled the model mounted by the "client"

I smiled with the "carbon and kevlar"

Some wrong fitting work anf many mistake in combo color

In 2 hours i full dismantled the model ouf of box previously mounted and restarted the work from point zero.

My Montecarlo Martini took me 1 and 1/2 year building and a lot of extra modifications. So, if my Montecarlo is an "hard level detail" (i'm not a great modeller, but i think to made a quite good work on my delta), this Sanremo will be a "medium soft level detail"

So i started with chassis.

Inside chiassis:

- opened some holes for future extra tubes and wiring

Undertray:

- some scratches due to rally use

- adding some welding lines inside the wheel arch

- rear arms structs fixxed on undertray

- closed the holes for undertray mudguards

- full alu Ral 9006 repainting

Rollcage:

- full welded for monolithic look

One of worst look on this model is engine bay...when you open the bonnet you can see the inside floor divided from undertray: toy level 10000000 plus

I started the followng work.

- closing the speaker grill (all sound and light effect will be erased from model)

- a new selfmade styrene firewall

- filling the rear suspension struct on inside rear wheel arch (from kit the seems a 2 mushrooms)

- final fitting of steering bar (before i balck painted and a litte detail)

- final "fusion"of floor, undertray and roll cage

I continued the welding work with chassis

I used epoxy glue to fix the rear wheel arch and suddendly a final test with bodyshell

I also remade the missing central brackets of rollcage near the central pillars

I also started to remade the differential and trasmission shaft.

The kit give a wrong trasmission shaft. In this kit is replicated the road shaft in 3 pieces. The WRC shaft is in 2 pieces.....so i rebuilt the correct trasmission system

Before to fit the trasmission unit, I must fit the exhaust line
The exhaust system of this model is in 4-5 pieces....so i glued with cyano an i started the work to have a mono exhaust piece.

I used the chassis as template before "to weld " the exhasut, i also opened the tailpipe to give a little bit more realism

I quite terminated the trasmission unit.

The whole unit receveid an alu paint base, the longer section is painted in graphite gray and the last shorter section is with carbon decal

With rubber tape i simulate the rubber silent block on central bracket of trasmission.

Before to fit trasmission and exhaust another step is the engine block and some accessories to check the good fitting.

Another big mistake is the complete missing of 4 exhaust duct on manifold, so with a sprue i added the missing duct.

I also add missing rib on top of head

I pianted the head in silver leaf, engine block in graphite gray and gerbox is painted in alu.

I also completed the right combo color on front arms and wishbones following the right color....i also hand write "MIKY  (is the name of Biasion) ASFALTO" on arms.

I also started a light wheatering work on chassis

Another necessary job to do on this delta is on the trunk section

The kiut give all closed and fixxed, in this way all the trunk compartment is hidden

As on mine Delta, i started the work to open the hatbox (i don't know is the right english term for this parts)

Nice work. I've never done 1/8 (my workspace here is just too small, one of the kids will have to move out first which probably won't happen for a couple of years), I can't get over how huge these parts like the engine are. I think the term for your "hatbox" is trunk, with a trunk cover or trunk lid on it. I'm not quite sure of the latter, because in Dutch the cover is called a "hat shelf", much like in Italy so it seems.

Thanks to much Jeron....trunk cover o trunk lid is perfect. So for the future i can call this parts with correct name.....many thanks for explanation! 😃

When i recived the delta, there was some delivery trouble.

The are some broken pieces: an rear arm and one bracket for rear anti roll bar

In first attempt i think to request a new issue with spare parts....there would be many time to wait and the assembly would stop, so i repair the to pieces by myself.

After reparinring i right painted with real 1:1 combo color the rear trasmission axle

Brackets for rear anti roll bar was holed (4 holes) and was yellow marked (as the other arms) for tarmac use

I finish the work with last exhaust section. I welded the dowpipe to the rest of exhaust lines. I dry fitted the engine to have the right size and fitting for exhaust

FInally I painted the exhaust with alu, some smoke and a final whetaering work to simulate some burning and heating zone. After painted i definetively fitted the exhaust system.

I also fitted the heatshield plate on chassis in the end of downpipe exhaust.....the undertray is quite completed

Trasmission unit fitted and quite completed

The give a gravel ride height, this Delta is for tarmac stage Sanremo 1991. So i modified the ride height cutting the springs and I yellow signed the springs for tarmac use

I added a little detail on drive shaft cowling

With punch & die i added some missing head bolt to arm and steering joint

Some painted detail "SX and DX" on absorbers

Repainted with real combo color the inside joint of rear differential box

A final wheatering for post stage effect

Anotehr big mistake on this kit is "secon battery" as called by the kit 🤦‍♂️. In the real car 1:1 this parts is the cooling radiator for servo steering, gearbox and differential. So i made the work to give it a radiator look

Another big and orrible mistake is the blanked cockpit air vent.....i opened and ready for next step: new kevlar decal

I made some kevlar work where it needed:

- on cooling radiator for gearbox/diff and servosteering
- intercooler duct
- cockpit air intake

- extra selfmade base plate for air intake

There's some scrached point that i've already fitted

While clear matt coat dry, i continued with engine compartment

- I work on master cylinder joints
- I fitted the extra selfmade master cylinder on firewall
- I fitted the estra joint an  level oil for extra vapour oil canister
- New joint and water level for water teank
- I changed the mistaken tube on water tank cap and i fitted a clear tube
- I fitted the reservoir tank on vapour oil rank and a little detail like on 1:1 delta (A= front brake lineS; P= rear brake lines; F= clutch)

I also dry fitted the engine to check if is it all good for spaces and clearance.

I'm quite at the end of engine

- I lienked the hose for gearbox cooling and lubrification system
- I linked the the fuel hose on fuel pressure regulator
- I linked the last water canister hose (is a a vacuum hose to link on radiator)
- I add some details (silicon hose) to air inlet duct from turbo to airbox

I fitted the airbox and intercooler duct
Some last missing details and engine will be completed.

Some stunning workmanship. I look forward to more progress 👌🏼

Thanks to much Cooper...I try to do my perdonal best on this "little" delta.

I can say that engine is quite completed, the last add/mods:

- I selfamde the oil filling hose for gearbox (totally missed by the kit). I use a styrene tube warma moulded, and suddendly I added shrink tube ana d new cap

- I linked the vacuum hose from capour oil tank to new gearbox hose

- I linled the vacuum oil hose from rocker cover to vapour oil tank (I added a selfmade spring usinag 0,5 mm wire)

- A litttle detail on airbox cover

- I linked the last braided hose for radiator engine oil

- I fitted the new absorber top end
