Well, can I have a minute of silence for my wallet?

December 2019 in china/ early 2020 elsewhere, very good news indeed.

Aw.... ugly seam in the middle of the canopy, can't believe we still have that in 2020, but other than that it is very exciting.

I'm not sure how they can avoid the seam in the middle. The canopy is simply wider in cross-section in the middle than at the bottom so they need to mold it sideways rather than conventionally top and bottom or the shape would be off - as in fact it is on many fighter jet kits produced before say, 2005. I'm not sure which manufacturer was the first to do this.

I agree with you it's a pain to get rid off but with some fine sandpaper, a nail polishing block and some toothpaste it will buff right out - or so I'm told ;)

I've done it with Airfix Harrier canopies; my wife walked in on me frantically toothbrushing the sliding hood in our bathroom at 10 PM, looked at me for a solid minute, and wordlessly walked out again.

Zvezda did it with a different clear part breakdown in their latest Su-27 UB and Su-30 releases, achieved the omega shape without seam, but in the end it is a much more complicated assembly and I still had to take care of sprue gates on the visible areas of the clear part anyway.

Anyway, Flankerman over at the ARC forums also pointed out the middle ring of thrust vectoring nozzles is much more "sunk in" in the test build pictures than it should be. Resin replacements are probably already available though. Also the IRST ball seems to be solid grey plastic and not a clear part 😮
