Gimme Shelter
A second Nautilus build here running alongside my Pegasus Hobbies build of the same, but with totally different looks and characteristics of Jules Vern's famous submarine from the depths of 20K Leagues - or in this case, straight from the big screen back in 2004 and the 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' film staring Sean Connery. This is a hard to find and expensive kit in original release from WAVE models - there are some very cruddy resin rip-offs of it out there which I considered in past years, but having now got myself an original and having now had a good look at the very light decorative relief work on the outside of the sub, I would think that any long-run resin copies will fail to display the superb detail and probably be prone to twisting when being cast - this is a very elegant shape and could easily qualify as a Concorde of the Oceans in looks alone. Here we go.... the box. It measures in at around 14 inches in length and about 1/2 inch wide a few of the internal parts installed prior to the water intakes and propeller wells being sprayed White Aluminium
Gimme Shelter
A bit more done as well. Central upper spine now installed keeping the assembled hull nice and straight and rigid. The kit parts that make up the conning tower assembly - I need to investigate the detail of the figurehead shown below. There is a 3 rudder system that assembles onto the backplane - here's the detail prior to the rudder assembly So this is the first part of the kit with poor fitting problems. If you're going to buy this kit, beware the instructions miss this section out along with the assembly of the internal radar arm extension (the parts are supplied but are not noted anywhere in the assembly diagrams or artwork) She's drying off with a bit of filler in certain areas at present, awaiting priming and preparation
Harley John
Interesting. Is the figurehead supposed to be a seal?

Thom216
Making me wish I had not sold off mine. It's a beautiful looking ship and probably the best part of the whole movie! Good work going on!
RACETRACK
I really enjoyed the graphic novels and although it was eclipsed by the X-men franchise on its release i don't think it had the impact it deserved,I quite enjoyed the film. This is a beautiful sub.
Gimme Shelter
This build was a real journey but made easier with the Christmas and New Year holidays which gave me the time to hand paint all that horrible silver scroll work on the Nautilu - it's all done and complted and over on the RFI pages, but here's a few shots to close off with Reaper Bones 25mm Great Kraken kit head over to the RFI pages for more photos of the finished fishy tale.. 13
