alt-92
Up to you, but I guess you would be more comfortable starting off with brush painting. In that case, you have the option of using Acrylics (Humbrol or Revell to start off with) or the more traditional and slightly smellier enamel paints (check with the household - it might put off some people!). Both work fine for brushing, thinned down a bit and for larger surfaces a broader paintbrush is handy. Standard brush sets are available, so detail work is also possible. In both cases, you have the option of branching out to more specialty colour sets if needed and budget permits. You can always check https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/68-tools-amp-tips/ for more info. ewing9593
A little bit of progress this morning on parts of the engine. I have to say there was a frustrating amount of cleaning up to do on the parts, but it does look pretty cool when it's all put together. First picture is the parts clipped, cleaned and ready for the build. Then a couple more of the constructed piece. Unfortunately it's the time of year where it's quite busy with family and friends so progress has been slow. Hopefully this ensures that I keep the parts well cleaned and the build is to a good standard. WIshing you all a happy new year tonight. Enjoy your celebrations. Cheers, Steven 2

ewing9593
Good Evening all. Got a little bit of progress this Saturday eve. Parts for the next stages of the build snipped and cleaned up below. First part of the build was the wheel and hook. Went together really smoothly, happy with the build of this. Once the wheel section was constructed, I grabbed the constructed pilot in his seat section to put together the body of the plane. Went together rather easily, could probably do with a little bit of filling and sanding before I begin painting. Onto the wings next, think I'm set on a wings up formation. Thanks for checking in guys and happy modelling. Steven
ewing9593
It honestly feels like forever since I last sat down at the bench to get some modelling done. Slow and steady progress on the Corsair this morning. Started with the wheel construction. Two pictures, first is all parts removed and cleaned. Second is the wheels built. https://flic.kr/p/2idNeTv Thanks for looking guys! Cheers, Steven
rob Lyttle
Slow and steady works fine, Steven. I thought of something that needs flagging up.... It caught me by surprise on mine and probably applies to all of the kits. When I assembled the Tailplanes onto the fuselage they fitted very well, but they angled up with dihedral. Check any pictures or reference and you can see these should be straight horizontal. I was late noticing and had to cut the joints open at the top and insert little spacer strips. My suggestion is to get some Muller Corner yogurt. The fancy shaped pots are polystyrene and our glue works on it! Being vac-formed the pot gives various thickness of material. The side walls are the thinnest. I dry fitted a couple of strips in as I forced the joints open.and that made the difference. Definitely worth the effort to get them out straight. The yogurt is OK too!
alt-92
Wow, that thing is BIG. Forget the brush paints, go for a spray can if you want to add some colour to this one.
