brianthemodeller
Hi all I am new to airbrushing and opted for ModelAir because a. It doesn’t smell and b. It doesn’t need mixing However, I am having problems... my airbrush keeps clogging up and I am having to do strip down cleans every 10 minutes or so. I have tried removing the needle cover but that had little effect. Can anyone give me any ideas what I may be doing wrong?? Thanks Brian Edited November 23, 2019 by brianthemodeller
ElectroSoldier
Vallejo do Drying retarder and Flow Improver. Put a bit of that into the paint as you mix it up or drop it into the colour cup. It will help smooth it out and should help stop it clogging up. That being said as nice and thin as Vallejo ModelAir is you should try thinning it first before you try the above.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
What size needle And air pressure ? I know Vallejo says it can spray right from the bottle but I've found it can vary due to a few circumstances. If all else fails mix it to the consistency of skim milk. Make many light coats to build up the color ?
brianthemodeller
Thanks for the guidance; a couple of drops of thinners in the cup had cured the problem.
Ratch
Sounds like your air pressure is too high.

Ratch
The best advice I was given was just a puff - turn it down as low as possible and gradually increase the airflow until it sprays - I've never looked at the gauge.
brianthemodeller
Ah, I think I get it. I’ll have a play tomorrow in between watching the e-learning videos I have been assigned!
