MarkSH
I failed epically with the last edition, not even managing to start, so I still have the kit (Airfix 1/48 P.40) in waiting and will try again...sign me up. Mark. 1

Hello Sirs... I have added you to the list in post #1. A Crusader is always a joy to see built. Probably the best jet Vought ever built. Mark as for your P-40 it gets an automatic entry due to its connection to a) the first build & b) its incredibly long history with Shark-mouths. I’ll be looking forward to both of the builds. For me best Soviet/Russian sharkmouths like art was 120 IAP from Domna with MiG-23MLD & MiG-29 9-13 , Su-27 "Shark" from Lipetsk Center combat use and also MiG-27. Other Soviet/Russian fighter sharkmouths are somewhat clumsy, they spoil and distort the appearance of the aircraft. But no good model in 72nd scale MiG-23MLD & Early Su-27. Sharkmouths on MiG-27 probably applied when his was pedestal, on MiG-29 9-13 from Zvezda I do not have the aftermarket necessary from my point of view. B.R. Serge P.S. I like Sharkmouths, but not all Sharkmouths beautiful on some aircraft. Edited December 16, 2019 by Aardvark

Corsairfoxfouruncle
Thanks @Troy Smith ... I knew of some of the WW2 aircraft. I was more curious that none of the Cold war or Modern stuff carry shark-mouths. Edited January 13, 2020 by Corsairfoxfouruncle

I am outraged by Western double standards in the area of shark-mouths and intend to file a lawsuit and apply to the World shark-mouths league with complaining about @Corsairfoxfouruncle! Let personal sanctions World shark-mouths league be introduced against him !!! 😁😁😁 B.R. Serge P.S. But in the early & late Soviet period, more gravitated to crocodiles teeth! Because all reading and love satirical magazine "Crocodile": As examples: 1977 years sketch from "Crocodile" The inscription on the display: "Stop! Arms race!" That Tu-22M Backfire that Serge posted is awesome!!! Plus you have to add the Mi-24 (some of them have huge mouths) plus the Su-24's as well.

Even that was usually limited to lend lease types like the P-40 and Spitfire. You are basically right. The teeth were not distributed in the Soviet Air Force period WWII, because it was believed that the more nose art on the plane, the more it attracts the attention of the enemy, the more likely it will be shoot down! Therefore, only real aces could afford painting, such as here, as G.Kostylov or A.Barsht After WW2 Soviet Air Force almoust don't paint any nose-art, renaissance was from end 1980 and probably before 2000, after 2000 nose art also rare. Shark month it remains only where it has already become a tradition since the 80s as respect for the past, while everything very much depends on the command. 9 hours ago, Corsairfoxfouruncle said: Ive never seen them Hmmmm, as minimum do You want to convince me that You have never met these Zvezda models: or this MiG-25: from Revell? Corsairfoxfouruncle
7 minutes ago, Aardvark said: Hmmmm, as minimum do You want to convince me that You have never met these Zvezda models: Sadly no until I came back to modeling in 2014 I had never heard of nor seen a Zvezda kit. As for the MiG 25 I hadn't seen the kit before then either. Most likely because Revell wasn't around very much before the turn of the Century. Revell had a bad Reputation in the U.S. at least around Chicago. They were very few kits available and those that were the quality wasn't considered very good until around that time frame. I suspect some of that is related to Chicago being home to Monogram. And also Illinois being home to Testors, which were located in Rockford about 75 miles NW of Chicago. Nowadays Revell have a much better Reputation and Ive built a number of them.
