Exceptionally fine work Serkan - I've said it before but your control over surface detailing is exquisite. :thumbsup2:

Many thanks Tony, but still my level of detailing skills much primitive compared to your ongoing work.

Here are the model sent to printer:

The alignment pin has been added to nose cone to position especially pitot tube correctly.

Now I have to wait for the printing process to finish to see if the chine pieces fit nicely to the fuselage.

The parts are ready for first check:

3637.jpg

The nose cone and randomly two fairings were removed from print base for fit test:

3638.jpg

The result is very impressive. The cone and fairings fit perfectly to the front fuselage part:

3639.jpg

Next step is to assemble all the parts and check how good will be a complete YF-12A model.

And it’s a WOW from me too, Serkan.

Those prints look just about perfect.  And the design of the chine plugins is impressive.  I don’t think I ever knew that the YF-12A was fitted with canards.

It’s really wonderful work, Serkan 😉

After a several hours work, all YF-12A parts have been put together using printing resin and UV hand torch 🔦 which gives more control on aligning the parts before assembling together. The resin stays in liquid form until it is exposed to UV light and suddenly cures when it is. Also any small gaps and can be filled this resin and sanded down very quickly. Here are first few images of the entire model:

By the way, today I will receive my new pre-ordered Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra 12K printer (although I have a brand new Saturn 2 8K unboxed still in basement) 🙂

Serkan - the laugh emoji was for the thought of you upgrading to the 12K before you'd got around to using the 8K

The surface detail look exquisite.

I'm not sure how useful such comparatively tiny canards would have been.  But they look sort-of cute...

Incredible work going on here Serkan! 👍

Thanks Matt, but still a lot to do. I haven't started modelling of the cockpit and missile bays which is a bit of work.

Actually I was trying to select a proper emoji but my thick fingers didn't allow me to pickup the right one from my mobile phone's display. 😁

Yes I am also very happy with the print quality of my Mars 3 printer which has 33 micron xy resolution. But the new Saturn 3 should give much better results with its 19 micron resolution.

This tiny oscillatory canard vanes mounted on YF-12A are from NASA/USAF test campaign to study dynamic behavior of the large flexible aircraft over a wide range of Mach numbers and flight conditions. They look very similar to B-1B canards.

Here are the 3d printed A-12 and YF-12A together with A-12and M-21 models based on Italeri/Testors kit with self made casted resin parts;

The outer wing has been modeled separately to allow adding the engine bay details in near future. Here are again only the printed aircrafts together:

Little update on YF-12A model: The three missile bays were added to lower fuselage. I had to use my imagination and creativity to add the details due to lack of reference pictures.

3651.jpg

3650.jpg

Next step is to add the missile bay doors.

Wow, Serkan... :worthy: Impressive talent you've been endowed with, mate.

Oh, incidentally,

There's someone in Argieland still planning to buy these for his Italeri 1/48 SR-71 kit.

Cheers,

Igna

Many thanks Igna.

I am afraid that having only the outer wing will not help. You will have to replace both intake cowling/outer wing assembly as well as the spikes and engine/nozzle assemblies. You can identify these parts from below photos:

That is so nice to see the detail and knowing the thousands of accumulative hours that the parts took to design for it to get to this stage.

Very nice.

Absolutely agreed Pete!

Here are the freshly printed parts including missile bays and AIM-47 Falcon missiles:

There are few areas to be improved and some extra supports have to be added for better printouts but in general the bays look good. Next step is to add bay doors.
