404 Sqn blenheims top colour

Hi

    Browsing and found this by accident,

 

    the old 404 Sqn website vanished sometime back, a pity as it had some nice photos 

 

      but someone has started a new one

what interests me is some of the blenheims appear to have only one colour on the upper surfaces

 

 

i.e. at almost bottom of the page Blenheim   ??035 

 

 

any thoughts, or is it just my eyesight ?

I couldn't track down the picture you mean on my tablet, so shall have a look on desktop later.  I suspect low contrast of TSS on certain films/filters.  The song however has been widely performed postwar as Bloody Orkney, don't know which credits are given.

It appears in the background of the photo of S/L Christison.  I agree with Graham’s diagnosis: low contrast TSS.  I think I can just see a colour demarcation on the rudder just above Christison’s left elbow.

It's Blenheim Z8035/EE-M. Faded Temperate Sea Scheme. The aircraft appears on other photos in the series. Like this:
