Hi Marlin, I have no idea yet, I wasn't sure what was available with this one?

Luftwaffe Norm 72 & 83 and Marine Norm 76 is what you get from the kit.

Thanks, I will have a look when the kit arrives.  My initial thoughts were build the one on the box front.  Where did you get the decals from?

The kit decals are not really wrong. Most of the usual F-104 stencils are not applied after the last overhaul in the 80´s, only the most imported ones. The same is for Luftwaffe F-4F and RF-4E painted in the old camouflage scheme around that timeframe.

The only mistake is it should read "MARINE - F-104-XXXX" not "LUFTWAFFE-104-XXXX" below the German flag on tail of 26+60 (MFG2).

Example: 26+57

Example: 26+72

Hi.

Another weekend where not much building was done has passed.
The only thing I had time for was to glue the twin store carriers and the bombs together.

But at least I have something more to prime during the week.

Hi, do you have a rough time to when you think you will have completed this by?  Or do you just carry on when you can?  I was going to wait until I had the new compressor and airbrush, but tempted to pain some of the smaller parts with the existing one.

Hi Andy350. :D

This one doesn't have a particular timetable.

Just a normal build, and that normally takes anything from two months to a year if I lose interest in the subject.

But I don't think it'll be the case on this one since it's my first F-104 in 1/48.

So perhaps two-three months will be sufficient for this one.

I got some days of work after New Year's and that'll come in handy for completion.

No worries Andy,

Considering how my work load is at work at the moment I don't think I'll have so much time to sit down with this one before the Holidays are upon us.  :D

Don't say that, I'm following your lead!! 🤣

Hi.

I'm back after the worst week I've ever had in my life.
On Thursday Dec 5 my eldest son became acute ill in Pancreatitis.
I had to call an ambulance and off he went to hospital.
The first four days in the intensive care unit, and since monday last on a regular ward.
So I've been spending my time at his beside at the hospital. He's still at the hospital, but in a much better condition.
And we hope that he will be home for Christmas.
But to take my mind of his condition I've been trying to build something every evening.

And this is what I've mangaged to do during last week.
Cockpit is painted.

Hi.

I've now painted all the main colours on my Starfighter.

And I'm rather pleased with the result.
The flash on my mobile has made the colours look brighter than they really are.
Unfortunatelly I ripped some paint off along with the tape.

But nothing that couldn't be fixed with some touch-up painting.

This build is the first one that I'm also using Vallejo Model Colors along with AKAN.
The paint is easy to brush, and when I discovered that I could pull the dropper from the bottle the became more brush friendly.
AKAN is still my favourite acrylic paint.
But they're missing some shades in the range, such as in this case RAL7012.
So I've purchased some Vallejo and Hataka colours as a compliment to my growing collection of AKAN bottles.

Some good progress with this.  I am about to start mine and wanted to ask a quick question.  Will the seat fit in to this build once the fuselage has been glued together?  I am guessing it will because by the look of it you drop the seat into the cockpit anyway.
