TEXANTOMCAT
This is the lovely Airfix 1/48 Hurricane which I thoroughly enjoyed building - it went together like a dream and is criminally underrated IMHO.... Part of the BOB film was shot at Sywell and I knew I wanted to do a Hurricane for a display at Sywell Aviation Museum but I wanted the viewer to realise it was 'set' in 1968 not 1940 hence the use of the Kodak van! I had to add 'Suzannah York' too - courtesy of the Revell/ICM set.... modelman182
What? No camera, film crew and trolley tracks? 😉 And where'e the exploding hangar??? hee hee hee... Another lovely little dio. I think I might have to make a trip down to Sywell next year to see more! Keep up the great work, TT Cheers Kev
TEXANTOMCAT
Thanks Kev- I knocked this together to go in the same display. It helps when the full size was 500yards away from the Museum at Air Leasing at Sywell... Hobbbycraft Buchon and I bought an old Monogram 109G and nicked the cockpit. My first ever try at plunge moulding to do the canopy... 13737469_10153653398615976_2154917720113296042_o by Ben Brown, on Flickr ATB TT
kapam
Lovely little diorama. I remember the movie scene well! Still one of my all-time favourite films to this day.
Pete in Lincs
And I only just found this. Lovely models, and please feel free to add Susannah York anytime you wish. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/06/9e/e1/069ee15567a4e4f604ef0a2077d07f3b.jpg Pete 3

Kushan_Farsight
Great little diorama and has given me the urge to try a bit of plunge forming myself!

franky boy
Beautiful work TT. I never realised part of the movie was shot at Sywell. Always thought it was all at Duxford. James
TEXANTOMCAT
Thanks James - yep they did quite a bit of filming here and at Lympne and IIRC Netheravon, - some photos on our website here: https://www.sywellaviationmuseum.org.uk/exhibits/the-raf-hall/battle-of-britain-movie-1969/ The nice twist of fate was of course that the 5 Buchons now on the UK circuit were restored by Air Leasing (all ex Connie Edwards BOB machines) at Sywell - some of them having flown from the airfield in 68 TT
franky boy
Thanks TT Great photos. I spent a very enjoyable day at Sywell a couple of summers ago when a friend went for a flight in the Grace Spitfire. Talk about jealouse. I remember the terminal building being particularly beautiful. James
