Frederick Sage Aircraft Factory C.1918

Recommended Posts

One of mine from a few years ago - using the Metcalfe card 'Hangar' and the Airfix 504 (I've since added a Roden lorry and aeroscreens to the aircraft) hopefully my dios are a bit better nowadays.

Frederick Sage in Peteborough built 504s under licence and this was a diorama for Sywell Aviation Museum - probably the largest one I've done.

Nice one, TT

Absolutely nothing wrong with that dio! It replicates the days when aircraft COULD be built by "a man and his mates in a shed". Albeit, a damn big shed! 😁

I particularly like the half completed roundels on the aircraft with the ladder leaning up against the upper wing - where's the bloke gone? Another tea break??? 😉

Cheers

Thanks Kev :) well spotted on the roundels - I figured he'd nipped off for a brew having replaced the ailerons! :)

The kids seem to like it in the Museum as its displayed at their eye level! Luckily I managed to pick up a number of Airfix 504s on the cheap - and over the years there have been five serial variations (some duplicated in reboxings) so each one has a different serial - albeit not all Sage built machines...but who will spot that! :)

Thanks Steve - me too! Was lucky enough to have a flight in G-EROE a couple of years ago - 504s are close to my heart too which is why my office chair is a 504 seat and there's a prop, aeroscreen, stick, rudder pedals, strut and rudder in the house too! :)
