Hi Ratch,

I've seen a couple of your dio's online - very nice - all local stuff too! Yes its 1/72

John - the 172 is probably still here - most things still are!

I think I've done about ten Sywell dios now, from an Avro 504 factory at Sages to bog standard Moth stuff. Nice to have a theme! :)

Currently have the AVI Fox Moth on the bench - Sywell's first charter service was with -ABVJ - I'm a bit of a sucker for Thompson Refuellers so I might have to use the Oxford Shell livery one for that!

TT   P.S. I pushed the prop hub properly home on the Hart after I took these photos!

Smashing diorama, great mix of planes, vehicles, people and accessories!

I'm very taken by the Hart trainer, can’t resist a yellow colour scheme, even though I hate painting the stuff...

Regards,

Adrian

Hi Phil

Many thanks for your kind comments - sure I use the cheap as chips Javis grassmat which comes in sheets  - my LHS sells em for £1.50 a sheet :) in my later dios I have weathered the grass a bit more to make it more realistic - it takes enamel staining/washes quite nicely. (NB these are the square roughly A3 sized mats not the rolls which arent as good IMHO as they are just scatter glued onto brown paper which crumbles off)

I'm a little late to the big reveal, but I must say this looks great! I keep meaning to build a little airfield diorama but I can't ever seem to commit to the act. I've been thinking lately I should do something for my 43 Squadron Fury, perhaps pairing it with some of the vehicles in the Airfix refueling set, even if the years probably don't line up exactly.

Thanks Tweener🙂 if you can’t find a 1/72-1/76 Hucks it’s well worth looking at model railway vehicles and adapting them- you might find a Crossley or similar which would do- I commend the Oxford Thompson Refueller though! 🙂👍
