Captured at Merville suggests the Battle of France, pretty strongly.

Just wondering.

But you do have a strong point.

There was a Hurricane which defected, but that was a Mk.II some time later (a Czech pilot),  I don't know quite where to go to check the story of this aircraft, but I'm pretty sure that the only British fighter to end up in France in this period was the well-known example of Hardy's Spitfire.  I'm sure that a Hurricane would be equally well known (well, almost).  Whereas over 150 Hurricanes are simply known as "Lost in France" during the actual campaign.

Hi

unfortunately i have forgotten my details for the old lemb site

but from notes on my hard drive it appears that this was supposed to be the first hurricane captured in may 1940,

it eventually went later in 1940 to jagdflierschule 2 at magdeburg

( via rechlin ? )

other hurricane mk I  were

maybe someone with the air brit serial books can check which ones the following two were

 Wn2545   ( ie N2545 or P2545 ? )

 Wn2683  ( likewise P2683 ? )

KM+GG

4+1  ( at rechlin )

V7670

T9536

another hurricane was one with JG51 at marquise but photos captioned say it was captured during the BoB

but the photos show it with a sky tail band so it must be nov 40 onwards and it also has a long pointed spinner on it

cheers

The "Jagdfliegerschule 2" moved in September / October 1940 from Magdeburg to Zerbst (Anhalt).

There they used a Hawker Hurricane I with the Code "? F + SC" (? means unknown)

The camouflage was original and the plane was used for dogfight training.

(Have a poor b9w picture, but can't post it here.)
