Mig88
Here is my Revell 1:72 Northrop F-89D-40 Scorpion which I completed back in 2003. It represents 52-1894, “FV-894”, of the 75th Fighter Interceptor Sqn, 23rd F I Wing, USAF based at Presque Isle AFB, Maine, in 1958. I built it OOB. If I recall correctly, the metal finish was by a Tamiya spray can and the red areas were airbrushed. Metallic paints were dry-brushed on various panels to give different shades. The rest was painted by brush. As always, thanks for looking and all comments welcome Miguel 54

72modeler
Best F-89 I have seen in any scale for a long time. Metal finish and paintwork are very accurate for a Scorpion. You should see one up close and personal- it's a BIG airplane! Well done, Miguel! 👍 Mike

Mig88
Thank you very much @reini 1 hour ago, reini said: Absolutely great looking Scorpion! Great job! Do you remember how the kit was to build? Im thinking of getting one... I had a look at my notes and there were a series of issues, partly due to unclear instructions. My positioning of the cockpit complicated the placing of the underside part a bit but I managed to fix it by sanding down plastic on both parts. The fit of parts wasn't perfect and nearly all joints needed some filling and sanding especially the underside. Some areas needed a little trimming to improve the join. In my notes I conclude that it's a stunning kit let down by poor fit of parts and poor instructions. I hope this helps. Toryu
Very beautiful - like fresh from the paint shop! I love such nice clean finishes. Why are the Scorpion's wing tip tanks open at the front?
RODH2
...because they house FFAR (rockets), right in front of the fuel tanks!! 🤔😲
