V Force Group Build - 36 members so far, any more?

I don't really know how all this group build suggestion and organising is supposed to work, but now that we have a new tool Vulcan on the way does anyone thing a V Force GB or Vulcan STGB might be a good idea for 2020/21?

Ok so I think I understand all I need to do now

This GB will be competing for a 2021 slot, hopefully the new Airfix Vulcan will be out by then. (A January or February slot would be very nice as it is not long after the Vulcan release and misses exam season)

V Bomber Group Build II:

.Anything V Force goes! This is Vulcans, Victors, Valiants and the development aircraft such as the Avro 707 or Sperrin. So when I say anything, I really mean anything. (Even non v force aircraft that were involved in development in a significant way are welcome, such as the Avro Ashton which tested Olympus engines)

.I would like to include (semi) realistic what-if variants in this group build, such as the Vulcan B3 or a production Valiant B2. Alternate schemes are welcome, such as if Australia had bought Vulcans or whatever.

.Airliner derivatives of each V Bomber were proposed so these are fine in the GB. Bonus points to anyone building an Avro Atlantic as I'd like to see them

.V Bomber related builds, such as support equipment, all fine by me, but it would be nice to see this in a diorama with an aircraft

.Any scale is fine, so the full range of V Bomber kits currently available is open to you as well as those which are more difficult to find

.Standard GB rules would apply (perhaps an exception on the 25% rule for restoring old Frog type kits if anyone wants to do that kind of thing)

.Bonus imaginary internet points from me for Vulcan B.1s 😛

.For members lacking in display space, the old tool Airfix vulcan will likely go down significantly in price and a pretty good cockpit section can be made from that. 1/200 Vulcans are only a little bigger than a 1/72 Spitfire, and a pretty easy build.

I was going to suggest the same tomorrow once it's been confirmed there is indeed a new-tool Vulcan kit coming from Airfix but you've beat me too it. In which case I'll offer to be your co-host :)

My other thought was for a Bomber GB to include a wider range of subjects if there wasn't enough love for the V-bombers alone but let's see how it goes.

Obvious a bombers GB has a nice ring, but if not how about a nuclear bombers one?  I'd be down for all three

I did offer up a Nuclear GB a couple years ago but in never gained much attention. Maybe worth me trying again sometime soon :hmmm:

An offer I will gladly except :)

That sounds sensible. If there's not enough interest, expand it to all Cold War bombers

It might not be a bad idea to re-use the rules and guidelines as a basis for this build.

“RULES

1. All builds must be less than 25% at the start of your build, if unsure please ask.

2. Your build must be part of the V Force or dirivertive i.e. Victor tanker, we will also allow What If V Force.

3. Also included, a specialised armamaents section so if somone wants to make a blue steel or blue danube we will welcome it as long as its V Force orientated

4. And have fun.”

Dennis

Edit: did not see you already pretty much did this.

Happy to add my name to this list as well... if you expand it to all Nuke Bombers and are looking for a cool name you could always call it the "Instant Sunshine" GB?  I've a stashed Airfix Victor in the cupboard and will no doubt add a new Vulcan as well. You've seemed to miss the old Matchbox / Revell 1/72 Victor to your list of kits too, there's still plenty of these knocking about.

Cheers and good luck.. Dave

I'll take that suggestion for a name is this gets expanded.

And yes the Revell Victor! How could I forget...

Really not a fan of that kit tbh because of the shape issues of the nose and intakes but I've seen some very nice builds of it.

Look what I just found!

Might do one of these for the GB then if it happens....

I have no experience with resin outside of wargaming kits done to well... tabletop standard, aka not as good as I'd want for a scale model.

Add me to the list too Adam. I have a Cyberhobby 1/200 Vulcan B.2  which has its tail glued in place but it should be within the 25% rule.

Sure that sound fine. It's not like 25% is really an exact measure on a model kit.

You could always convert it to a B1a to make more work 😂

Also of use ^^

Anyone know why Anigrand sell their kits all in bundles with other kits? Seems like a very odd thing to do

I’ll find it hard not to be in :) especially if the start date is near Christmas or my birthday    making it easier to get either the new Vulcan or a victor

We can aim to *start* on your birthday 😂
