Gertrud Barkhorn's Fw 190D-9 (Strike Witches)

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I present you my next project, a Hasegawa Strike Witches themed Focke Wulf Fw 190D-9. The box has a single Fw 190D-9 in 1:72 and a 1:20 figure of Gertrud Barkhorn.

If you can remember, I've already built three similarly themed models:

I decided to jump and begin building this kit. 41 pieces in total.

But first, here's what I've been reading: "Fighter Aces of the Luftwaffe. Fighter pilots, their techniques and combat tactics."

Wings built:

Fuselage halves painted in RLM 66:

Cockpit built. There is little space to see something once the canopy is glued in place, so I left the decals for the instrument panel out, as I did with my Mc 202.

Aircraft almost fully built:

Horizontal stabilizers glued in place:

Do you guys see this little piece? When I removed it from the sprue, it went flying to some distant place. Luckily I was able to find it over my sanding papers.

You could do this down in the Sci-Fi/Movie-TV/themed group build. It would be a perfect fit ?

I could, but I prefer to do my thread in the more mainstream category.

Cool, an anime-themed build! Not too many of those. I have one of the Creator Works Folgores in the stash with the red DaVinci livery. Will be following along.

Is that Folgore from the Shidenkai no Maki manga? I think Hasegawa did them.

His name was Gerhard Barkhorn to get that straight and to me it doesn't matter how much enjoyment you get

from a kit like that, it simply doesn't belong in this forum since I see no realation to reality. If you would have known

him like I did you would put it where Corsairfoxhound suggested in the first place. I simply don't like funny stuff made at the

expense of deceased people, no matter what side they were on. My opinion.

Yes, I already know, I built his plane at the beginning of the year.

For me it fits perfectly, it's a scale aircraft model of the Dora 9.

You could try being more polite next time, in my opinion.

The forum title is Work in Progress - Aircraft. This hits both criteria.

Yes it is. Though I have to say I did not watch that anime. For me it's a Folgore in a cool/unique red scheme. Although, now reading the wiki I may check it out.😁

Ive been considering doing a series of Pylon Racer whifs circa 1948 as if WW2 never happened. This fits the Macchi perfectly for a racing scheme. Ferrari Red with tiger-stripes.

Good to know.

Pity she's a bit big to fit in the cockpit.

But she's small enough to fit into the cockpit of the Hobby Boss Fw 190A-8 in 1:18.

Real nice fantasy build!

Thanks! I should be receiving another one of these the next month, I hope I end up having as much fun as I did with this one.
