I know the Vulcan is the big news, have Airfix announced anything else?

I'll wander past and ask about markings, and I have no idea about other announcements. I'll ask about those too.

Hopefully included. They did say this isn't finished so they might not have done that piece yet.

I have a feeling this will contain a lot of options

I think I saw the RWR fairing in one of the CAD illustrations and an indication that the entire fin top dielectric fairing is a separate part.

I saw it was separate, must have missed the fairing

Could you ask about 201 jetpipes as well? Thanks

I shouldn’t worry I’m sure they will do as they did both 201 and 301 pipes for the corgi vulcan.  Also if not you can be sure of aftermarket stuff or 3D printed items if needed. But who cares it’s AMAZING as is and I for one love the later 301 beasts. :)

Ah! The infamous "red lines".!

I was commenting on the only Cads I had seen at the time.

I wonder if Airfix will remember the earlier ECM cone tip, some of the Blue Steel aircraft even had them

That's very good then. I prefer the 201s personally.

I emailed them about that, and they said they are most definitely going to reprint the decal (I wish I had known about them then!) only printed by Cartograf this time.  Not sure if they plan on making any changes to it,but what is there sure looks nice.

I did the same, and got a confirmation as well. Here is what they said:

"we most certainly ARE!!!

"we're waiting for a due date on the new kit"

Sounds like they are excited about the kit, too.

Big and beautiful, but I wish they had done it as a 1/48th scale kit.....

I'm glad they didn't.

I think the proper scale for big multi-engined types is 1/72 - despite the recent glut of massive bomber kits from other manufacturers.

That way you can actually afford to buy them, are more likely to finish them and have the space to display them.

Even in 1/72, the Vulcan will still dominate any display cabinet.

Yes, I know it would have been a bit big, but, well so it should be.

You could use the completed model as an occasional table!  :fool:

I have just calculated that a new SYVDE cabinet from IKEA will do the job nicely. It even has room for another nine of them!

Would you, like me, have preferred a new build small boilered Claughton , rather than the Patriot ?

Though I am getting quite exited about the Patriot as it nears completion, and cant wait to see it in steam

Any sort of Claughton would have been nice.  However, like you I'm excited about the Patriot.

I would agree with you there.1/72 is a very practical scale for an aircraft like this. Its also still the most popular scale( as far as I am aware).

With a sensible size and, lower price it is more likely to encourage multiple purchases. Just what Airfix needs.
