Revell 1/24 Mclaren 570S

Recommended Posts

HI there,

finished this kit yesterday and other than a few fit issues went together quite well. The body i sprayed direct from a tamiya can of TS lime green and unusual for me there is no clear coat used at all,the finish is straight out of the can. For the first time ive taken the pics against a neutral background and have to sat i am pretty happy with the results.

           Thanks for viewing

Thanks Keith and yes that colour divides opinions but I quite like it

This is the first one of these I've seen built, and it looks as though it's come out pretty well. Much better pics (in my opinion at least!) with the plain background than on your desk - without the clutter the car really takes centre stage, helped enormously by that green :)

Me too! I've just got a jar of zero paints Ford Le Mans green for one of my Mk1 Escort builds - it's solid rather than pearl and not quite so bright but very close! My favourite colour on Mk1 Mexico's!

Thanks I agree that the pic's are much better this time round as for the kit there are issues with some parts but I'm happy with the finished build

I've actually seen a couple of 570S in this colour and I think it suits this style of car. I think wheeler dealers did an Escort in the colour you are talking about very nice indeed

Looks great, and definitely a striking colour! Good pictures as well... I always find anything I take against black looks dull, but you’ve avoided that, for sure!

best,

M.

Well trust me I must have fluked it with the pic's photography is not a strong point where I'm concerned 😃

When I was in Uni and just about affording to run a ratty old rally prepared Mk1 Escort 'Mexico copy' one of the other motor club members bought (with the aid of mummy and daddy's money!) a brand spanking new Le Mans green Mex - I fell in love with the colour right then and always wanted one the same. Never going to happen now with the stupid prices old Escorts fetch - so 1/24 will have to do!! :)

WOW! What a colour… perfect!

FMO a Mc Laren 570 begs for extreme and bright colours, which fit perfect with carbon parts.

Thanks Marco I agree 100% 👍

Mine’s going to look like this:

I followed it at about 5mph over the miles of speed bumps through Burley Moorside a couple of months ago!

Great colour choice love it 👍

My son's friend has a real McLaren (not sure of the model) - & a 911GT3 for his missus! - in dull metallic grey. I said it was boring - he said it was stealthy! I guess he might have a point!

I think it depends on the style of car and personal taste I suppose but a Ferrari that isn't red doesn't look right to me, just my opinion

I think what he was getting at Andy is that it was less easy to spot when, err, slightly exceeding the speed limit! If I ever pick the right Euromillions numbers and feel the need to buy a McLaren, it would be in the green colour you used! :)

You would need quite a few cans of Tamiya TS paint for that Keith 😃

Great finish on the McLaren, that paint work is excellent!

Thanks the Tamiya TS paint range is excellent for spraying model kits and it's been a while since I've used them , however I plan to use them more often from now on. I use a halogen heater to warm up the area I spray in this makes a huge difference to the paint finish particularly when spraying the TS metallic colours. Having professional paint sprayers in the family has its benefits !

                 Cheers Andy

Nice, Andy!

Can you elaborate on the fit issues you ran into. I have this kit in my stash and hope to build it as a GT4 race car.

Ben

Hi Ben the doors are quite difficult to make fit perfectly and this is a well known problem with this kit. I could have spent more time getting them to fit better but I'm reasonably happy with the outcome. Fitting the body to the chassis was also an issue for me very tight however these issues could be more down to myself than the kit I'm no expert. Give it a go when finished it's a nice kit to have on the shelf

         Regards Andy
