Not so much parts left in the box!

Why, have you put all the missiles inside the fuselage bay?  Joking aside that's looking very good Nikolay.  Fundekals eh!  So you finally gave in to using AM decals.

Thanks, Giorgio! 🙂 No, the closer inspection can reveal some imperfections... 🧐

It's OK Nikolay, it's a 1/72 model, closer inspections aren't allowed

Nay, I decided to save my time and keep my nerves. 😉 Actually, the weapons bay aren’t so nice in this kit and I wasn’t ready for a scratch building... OK, I’m lazy! 😸

I did some research, add a few details and decided to go with a bit unusual painting scheme; it all went better than I expected, so I want to finish the kit with a proper markings instead of incorrect ones. I planned this build OOB only!

Well, I always try to hide some questionable things on the photos... 😬

No you are not being lazy Nikolay, I will do the same, there is a lot of work to make the missile bay look good, the missiles are not accurate and nobody makes the early Falcon missiles needed for the Duce.  I bought the Eduard resin Falcon missiles but they are only correct for the F-106.

The MENG F-106A kit has the correct Falcons on its sprues. Maybe not so correct, but the acceptable ones. Also I have an F-106B by Trumpeter in my stash, but haven’t looked at the armament yet.

Great looking build. The Meng kit is a big advance on the old Hasegawa kit, isn't it? 🤩

Don't mean to butt in but it certainly is, just a pity that they employed the ex-Matchbox trench digger for the panel lines.

I’ve never had the Hasegawa kit, but it has a nice raised surface details, in my opinion.

Yes, the panel lines engraved too deep, but it’ll look good under the silver paint without any subsequent wash.

Anyway, the panel lines looks different on the real aircraft, so I became a bit sceptical about these modern «features».

Hello friends,

I have some progress on painting the small things like a candy-striped Pitot probe and canopy sealant:

Also I finished the tail hook along with the Data Link antennas:

On most photos the tail hook are red or white, but I decided to trust the MENG instruction sheet and made it striped.

Hope you like it! 😉

I just ordered this kit but with case X wings a couple days ago.

I think the Case X wing tips fits better than the Case XX - I had some little problems with the wings on an early stages...

Top class paintwork, Nikolay 😎

Thank you, Rob!

Just sprayed a top coat on the Deuce and I’m very happy with the results. It was a first time when I used a spray can - happily, all went great except the light snowing that eliminated a few minutes later... :phew:

Hello, Britmodellers! 🤝

While awaiting for the stencils I applied some decals from the box:

This time I don’t change the serial numbers as I don’t have spare decals with a needed digits, and I hope it’s not a show-stopper... 😬

Hello gents,

the decaling went well, along with the painting of some little details like a retractable beacon:

The large markings and even the small stencils looks great because of the thin carrier film and a small help of the Mr.Mark Softer on top:

As you can see, I messed a bit with the main landing gear doors and the landing lights aren’t so visible behind the door’s actuators:

OK, I can live with it - I don’t want to mess up the things more.

The forward fuselage section received the largest amount of markings and looks busy:

The nose landing gear door is on its place now:

An anti-glare panels on the top of an intakes are the decals - it’s a very smart solution:

Actually, I have some troubles with the USAF marking on the starboard side because I applied the Mr.Mark Softer before the decal (as I did many times before) and the carrier film was partially melted. All the subsequent decals were applied with the help of the water.

Thanks for watching! 😺

Sorry to see the fate of the first kit but this one is a real stunner.

That’s why I’ll leave the Vigilante alone for another time! 😬
