Hello from a lapsed modeller

Recommended Posts

Hello, long time lurker finally signed up. I’m back into the hobby in a serious way after 20 years away from it. My interests are British ww2 aircraft as well as Luftwaffe aircraft in 1/72nd but I dabbled in the past in military modelling. It will be great to be part of this community!

@Wince wot @Eric Mc says is UNDERSTATEMENT in the extreme!

I suggest smelling salts, they will help you to 'come to' faster, bandage for your jaw, 'cos it WILL hit the floor AND a good pair of footwear,

'cos yer dogs'll be barking come Saturday evening!

See you at Telford

Paul

Hey. Welcome. Do you have a

build planned.

Johnny.

Hello Johnny. Built fw190, 2 spits, ju 87 and a bf109 crash diorama a jet provost and now lingering on my revell hurricane that I attempted to detail up. Next build will likely be an old classic airfix tiger moth.

Wow. That’s quite a lot right there.😀 I think

what I meant to say is are you planning a WIP on here? 😇

Haha. My bad. Just need to work out how to post up pics. I wanted to do a WIP on my revell hurribomber but I’m nearing completion and losing will to live dealing with soft moulding and scratchbuilt cannons. I will get my thinking cap on as I really enjoy detailing up older kits so my mistercraft (???) 1/48th tiggy moth will be my first wip. I will be hopefully scratch building about 50% of it.

see here

there are several threads.  The short, they need to be hosted online somewhere, you can't upload directly.

I would suggest this is originally a Merit (reboxed by Artiplast and SMER) or the Aurora kit.  Have search as the part layout will be the proof.  Scalemates is not showing the origin.

I think it is the smer kit. It is dreadful but will be a challenge. Cheers for the link for images too.

I had a look

Mistercraft

https://www.super-hobby.co.uk/products/D.H.82-Tiger-Moth.html

SMER

https://www.super-hobby.co.uk/products/D.H.-82-Tiger-Moth.html

Same parts.  If the Mistercraft decals are any good/accurate, then the multiple schemes are a bonus,  a cheap AM sheet for the forthcoming Airfix kit.... ;)

if you are going old school,  then this is well worth a read

written 'back then' about improving kits like the Merit Tiger Moth.  Note the comments here about embossed markings

He is one of the founders of turning what were toys into accurate scale models.   There have been new materials and techniques, but the basic always worth knowing.

The decals need some help as they disintegrate on contact with water but you get a lot! Thank you for the help on this.
