fightersweep
Hi all; Just a quick question regarding the Vampire T.11 and Meteor T.7 of the Vintage Pair. I've looked at a lot of photos, but were the two aircraft painted silver or light grey? It's really difficult to tell from photos online, but to my eye, it looks more like a light grey. Wonder if anyone has the definitive take on the subject? Thanks in advance; Steve
Sabrejet
They were most definitely pale grey, but not sure what shade.
cngaero
I seem to recall that both aircraft were overall Light Aircraft Grey with Yellow trainer bands. 2
fightersweep
Thank you gents. I thought it looked like overall light grey, even though I would imagine that originally, it would have been silver. I've got my starting point now. Best regards; Steve
Steve Coombs
They look to be light aircraft grey in the slides I took of them at Mildenhall the day before they collided.
Selwyn
They were painted BS 381c 627 Light aircraft grey with BS381C 356 Yellow trainer bands. Selwyn 2
fightersweep
Thank you all! That's very helpful, and thanks Selwyn for the exact info. Time to get cracking on my builds (all part of my one man 1980s airshow group build) Steve

Selwyn Confirmed from me also. Allegedly because LAG was much easier to maintain in top condition despite being a little anachronistic for the Trainer Yellow stripe schemes.
Graham Boak
Further agreement, but I wouldn't have bothered adding "allegedly".

fightersweep
Thanks again everyone. I've got some old but still superb DBI bottles of Light Aircraft Grey that will be just the job. Just remains to be seen if I actually receive my Xtrakit Meteor T.7 from Model Hobbies . Got the Airfix Vampire T.11 yesterday. Looks to be a nice kit on first inspection. Steve Edited November 6, 2019 by fightersweep
