markmcguire25
I love this build! I bought two of these and haven't started them yet. Any pitfalls to be aware of? Also, I'm tempted to build the one flown by Cliff Secord.
noelh
Looks great. Also love the original Gee Bee. There is something about its odd shape. Strangely a local furniture shop has a couple of large scale Gee Bees for sale as some sort of display item. Quite expensive though but very well made and accurate. I suppose they're something of an icon.

(Sorry Martin. Truly, I am.) OK, I asked for that one but how well did they work as masks. I ask because I too have the kit and have had trouble with vinyl masks in the past. dora
I used the masks from the kit. No problem. Thanks for the comments.
Mikey-1980
I purchased this kit from IPMS this weekend. Really looking forward to building this aircraft. if there are any downloads for the instructions, that would be great In the excitement of my purchase, the instructions were accidentally left out of the box haha! But I suspect that the kit itself will go together in very much the same way?
Gary Brantley
That Gee Bee is so cool! 😎 I love those stubby little racers and their history too. I have the ancient Hawk/Testors 1/48 model but the paint scheme has always been too intimidating for me. Vinyl masks would sure simplify that deal. Thanks for showing your beautiful R1! The Gee Bee in The Rocketeer film was a Gee Bee Z, not an R like this model. See the link to a neat video of a very nice replica Gee Bee Z.
