BEA “Red Square” Decals for A319

Nick Webb at http://www.classic-airlines.com does 2 sets for the A319, One in Red Square Set CAA144-053 and the other in Speedjack Set CAA144-052

They are laser printed on continuous film though. The sets I have used give very good results as long as you can place them over white/light paint as both these schemes are.

PS - I have no connection to classic-airlines,com, I'm just a customer who is very satisfied with their product and super efficient service.

[Edit] - this is my S&M Viscount done with classic-airllines.com 'British Midland' decals.

Brilliant thank you John 😃, I have gone a Speedjack set and have just ordered them... how is delivery? I will get to work on my neglected A319 and hopefully do this lovely scheme some justice.

That is a lovely model as well, love the extra effects. I’d love to get some people but not sure where to buy them from as looking to get some steps etc from Braz soon.

Regards,

Alistair

Hi Alistair,

Nick's service is excellent, I've sometimes had decals arrive in 2 or 3 days time. Fingers crossed!

Happy to have helped, 👍

Alistair,

There's a Preiser set of figures:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Preiser-Unpainted-Airline-And-Airport-Personnel-11-Figures-in-1-144-77103-ST/163873571381?hash=item2627a04235:g:IZUAAOSw~4taTwDB

There used to be another set of crew and passengers (#77102) but this hasn't available for years.

North Star Models also have some nice sets, available unpainted or painted:

Business Class passengers - https://northstarmodels.com/product/1-144-set-of-four-figures-business-class-passengers/

Passengers - https://northstarmodels.com/product/1144-set-of-26-figures-of-passengers-for-civil-aircrafts/

Pan Am stewardesses - https://northstarmodels.com/product/1-144-set-of-four-pan-am-stewardess-resin-figures/

They have a few other bits and pieces in 1/144 as well.

Hi Alistair,

Nice choice of scheme!

If you've not used laser printed decals before then (apart from the fact that each item needs to be cut out separately) be aware that they are translucent and so one edge of the cheat line needs to match your white / grey paint boundary.  Otherwise, the cheat line will have half of it looking darker than the other (guess how I know!).  With this livery it would be easier to mask at the top edge but then all the windows would be grey.  If you are going to overlay Authentic Airliners windows on top that's no problem, apart from possible spacing issues.

I've got the first version of these decals from Nick (but the reg isn't G-EUPJ) - when I can find them I'll let you know how the window spacing compares.

Hi Mike,

No I’ve not used them before, so thank you for the tip 👍🏻. I was trying to work out the best way to mask off the fuselage for the light grey area that wouldn’t affect the blue cheat line...

I was planning on going over them with the AA Decals.

I've now found my Classic Airliners 319 decals and compared the window spacing to the Authentic Decals, they are not quite an exact match but very close  So you may need to cut the latter into strips of say 3 or 4 windows to get best results.
