Hi Guys

Here we go, I’m using this kit by Tamiya as the base build for an early BF 109 Night Fighter flown by 10. Staffel IV. Gruppe Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 G9+JV Not all 109's had the PielG IV system, this could have been by choice or it just depends when the photo was taken as there is a photo of this plane without the PielG. IV.

This kit is very clean no flash, good start!

I started by painting all the bits that need RLM02 on the sprue, I’ll cut and paint during assembly.

Oh boy! 7 different colours just for the cockpit.

Wings assembled fits really well.

First coat of paint, I'm doing very light coats and will be using 3 different blacks, Base black is Gunze Tire Black, second coat will be RLM74 and then RLM22. I will do some light sanding in between with 1200 grit. I'm hoping to create a clean weathered look, rather than a clean black showroom finish that I've seen everyone else do with this subject.

Edit: just noticed the pics don't show the light coat, but it definitely isn't.

Has Ernst done this before, he's printed it in 1/48 but labled it 1/72, I've sent him an email because he doesn't realise the error. I hope he will rectify it.
