Sanding sticks recommendation???

Sunny

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need some sanding sticks that are foam backed for sanding out seam lines and smoothing out areas.  I bought some from amazon but they are way too fine.   I need some so i can cut them to my own shapes etc.

Do I need medium?  or which grit for this kind of task?

Could someone recommend some "go to" sticks i can buy?

I keep buying either too fine to too course.

I was having a look at those. Which one do you suggest for seam line removal etc?

Depends on the seam. If it's awful, use a really coarse one first, then work your way up to a finer one, then a polishing buffer to finish. You really need a full range of sticks to do the job properly

Go to your local beauty boutique/drugstore whatever and get some nail sanding units. If it's for a really bad spot, you can also get some nail files. Get the no-name stuff, it's cheaper. All of the fingernail stuff is cheaper than the model-building stuff.

Or buy the following and do your own for much cheaper.

Desired grits of sandpaper

Meat skewers or kebab sticks, wider ones

Two-sided tape

Get a skewer,

cut the sandpaper from behind by referencing the skewer, then stick the skewer to tapes one side,

stick the cut sandpaper to tape's other side,

cut the remaining itsy bits

Voila!
