Mig88
Here are a pair of Trumpeter 1:144 North American F-86F Sabres I built back in 2006. Both were painted and varnished with brush. North American F-86F-30 Sabre 52-4346/FU-346, 335th FIS, 4th FIG, USAF, Korea. I only found out later that the airbrakes were not positioned correctly! North American F-86F-40 Sabre 72-7706, Sotai Shireibu Hikotai, JSDAF at Iruma AB, Japan As always, thanks for looking Miguel

Adam Poultney
Looks great! Don't think anyone can complain about Airfix having overscale panel lines though
spejic
I can't believe the quality of the metal finish was achieved with brushing. Really nice work. 2 hours ago, Adam Poultney said: Don't think anyone can complain about Airfix having overscale panel lines though That's because you are seeing the model at extreme magnification. In real life, the panel lines are extremely fine - some of the finest in the 1/144 world.

Zooming in just shows how overscale they really are. Shows that sometimes you have to sacrifice real accuracy to get an accurate or appealing appearance.
Mig88
Thank you very much everyone! Yes zooming in plus the metal finish does make the panel lines stand out too much. For your information, for the finish I used Humbrol 27002 Polished Aluminum. Normally, a couple of coats suffice. If more are necessary, I apply a thin coat of varnish as more coats can "lift" the previous ones. The important thing is to lay the paint thinly and immediately spread any thick paint. Tonal variations (not much in this case - mainly the gun panels) are achieved by dry-brushing other metallic paints. Miguel
