Hi,

I have just finished Vought SB2U3 Vindicator, model by MPM (No 72087) . It is previous kit of this airplane by MPM/SH/Azur concern, however its late edition with injected canopy (firstly it was vacu). It has some flaws which I have tried to improve (those, which I recognized... :( )  . I repleced air intake, made air outlet in front of windscreen, add intake on lower part of cowling, added landing light and gun shell output (Techmod PE part). I used also Techmod masks for canopy and rubber sidewalks decals (the original one were stright, so of wrong shape). I added false (ie. made of decal ) bottom windows just behind cowling on a fuselage (not my prfferable, but I realize on this flaw of model very late).

Model presents machine from U.S. Marines VMSB-241 ("sons of Satan") unit from begining of July 1942 during Battle of Midway, pilot James H. Marmande, who lost his live in that battle (RIP). Here is more detials from use of Vindicator in Midway https://www.vought.org/special/html/ssb2u2.html

The real thing photos of poor quality are available in Net

Well done, Brother... Nice result from the very mediocre kit

Thank you. Indeed the kit was not that good as looked in box. That proves that sometimes it is better not to keep model for many years in stash... If I would not buy this MPM kit in 2000 (and keep it untouched for 19 years in stash) I will buy new tool SH Vindicator in 2013 or leter...But who knows which models will have re-tooled issues in future!

Cheers

Very nice! I always liked the Vindicator. You certainly did it justice.

Many thanks!

Perhaps very few knows it that Vindicator was under consideration in 1939 for an enforcement of Polish Army (along with Fairey Battle , Hurricane and Ms 406),,,

Cheers
