'ere, I've had another idea how I can combine some GBs.

 

I'll scratch build a  figure of one of my late uncles.

 

He was born in Norway, escaped there and joined the Free Norwegian Navy in WW2. Later he transferred to the US Navy. After WW2 he became a naturalised US citizen. He learnt to fly and delivered ex-USAAF P-51s to a South American country and flew one of them for a couple of years in one of their scuffles. He re-enlisted for the Korean War and was still active in the US Navy in the early years of the US involvement in Vietnam. He was made to retire from the USN in about 1978, then he became one of those Wildcat Roughnecks working in the oil fields of Oklahoma, Texas and Alaska.

 

He used to taunt a Swedish neighbour with:

'At the Battle of Co-pen-hay-gan

ten thousand Swedes

Chased by one Nor-vey-gan!'

 

They were good friends tho

I have just been watching "Danger Close - The Battle for Long Tan", gosh what an amazing movie!!!!

 

Probably not a lot of people know about this action during the Vietnam War (me included) but it was a very important and significant action by Australian and New Zealand forces. It was neither a victory or loss in the end but caused major lessons to be learnt. My training Corporal was a Gunner in the 9 Sqn choppers used in that event!

Not sure why you have ‘Chopper’ at 57 Rich, the votes above don’t seem to match. Unless I’m mistaken I read it as a healthy 76.

I was really hoping Small Wars would make it through and give us a great oportunity to model some lesser seen subjects and expand the sum total of knowledge across the Britmodeller gang about those lesser know conflicts.

Ok Roubles have been paid and normal service has been resumed! :D

 

Oh and before anyone says "there's no 31st of November", yes I now, but it's 1st here and you lot are still in the past and putting down the 30th again will upset my chard. So a choice upset you lot or my spreadsheet???? So it's the 31st!! :tease:

Gosh you lost have been very busy since the last update, there has been some real shuffling!! Still just 2 votes separating 4 GB's fighting for that last position!

As of now 891 votes have been cast with 178 members voting. Do some wee maths and that means on average we only cast 5 votes each instead of 7, so 25o odd votes were lost!

 

Now imagine how those lost 250 votes could have changed things!!
