My understanding has always been that Mod followed by a year refers to the year of manufacture so you can pin down slight changes between vehicles with the same designation (think e.g. F-16 where they have a version suffix and a block number).

Have a look at the bottom of here for some inspiration - lots of interesting schemes with almost no need for decals :)

ok.... pressure is high here!

that is, what

you get:

XlNysGc.jpg

some big(ger) parts, and bags of smaller ones ;)

planes in 1/48 are way bigger....just the lenght of a large bomb or cruise missile... (duck and cover..... )

hull and turret parts:

lots of small parts:

pVGYTtK.jpg

I mean lots!

and some PE

G9bMIPm.jpg

highly detailed in my opinion! what I am missing is the air defense (12,7mm MG DSchK ??) machine gun... characteristically placed right to the gun on many examples I found on the net...

any ideas where to source one from?

thanks!

Looking good, and in my current favourite armour scale. I'm wracking my brains trying to think of other 1/48 Russian tanks you could steal the gun from.

It's a 12.7mm DShK you're looking for, used from late WW2 on IS tanks plus the ISU-122 and 152 so somebody might have a spare

any idea if it is included in any kit? Tamiya does not seem to be the case..... RB models- no luck either....

probably a base... but not the best idea I guess...

hmmm maybe I will ditch the MG idea....

been checking Gaso.line too, no luck, all their Su's, KV's etc come without the MG... If available, there's one included in their T-62 kit. The Aurora kit from the Josef stalin, academy T-72 in 1/48 also has one and that's about it I fear...

will think about it! does it seem  bit short (barrel length?)

meanwhile:

lower hull  and top side

no the big parts are over.... not sure yet when to close the hull, need to get a better understanding of the small parts first!

the construction manual expects some experience I'd assume!

Idd, it looks off, you'll need almost two to build one, which will make it very expensive. Maybe a contact with the guy who owns the model, or maybe just some scratchbuilding. Plastic tube in a drillmachine to make the ribbing (with the back of a knife) extend it as you go and use a back of a knife to make the grove. Other parts are fairly simple to make...

Very quick work there Werner, looking very good indeed.

Regarding the DShK gun there were a lot of T-54/55's that didn't have them fitted, in fact even in 1/35 you have to be careful of which kit you buy if you want to be certain of it including the DShK.

Looking good. Seems a bit very horizontal those arms, but otherwise...

hmmm could of course be my fault!

but then the first and last on each side have molded on hinges and those kind of set the angle.... the 3 middle one where done by myself the same way....
