Lysander 1:72 Eastern Express/Frog

That's a nice picture of a Mk.II, J-W.

That looks like that's a supply canister and those two lads are packing the parachute into it. I wonder it this Lizzie is with an ASR squadron?

The caption:

I've just finished building it. Will post results in "ready for inspection" a bit later.
The kit is bad, people already pointed out canopy issues. It's an old Frog/Novo mold hence bad quality of the kit. However one thing I totally didn't expect was quality of the plastic itself - was really hard to work with - could only use coarse sandpaper (up to 400)

It is okay, but of course a bit long in the tooth and simplistic by modern standards.

There us a nice example here:

This pic is also used in the Haynes book. A page or two earlier there is another from the left side, same squadron so perhaps same airframe, which also seems three tone.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've actually finished this rather awful kit, I decided to do the SOE version, but it doesn't come with the right decals, I have put a wanted advert out for them never know may get lucky.

Well it's improved my skills with PVA glue, as I used this to fill the massive gaps in the canopy fit.   It actually worked surprisingly well.

The rear windows near the tail I used the clear packaging from a toothbrush packaging quite pleased with the result and a massive improvement from the windows supplied with the kit.

Gloss coat going on tomorrow and wing rondels that came with the kit in the week.

If anyone can help with the SOE decals or come up with any suggestions very grateful...
