Can't wait.  Finishing up the first Q model right now.  Had to scratchbuild a new Helmet Site Subsystem (HSS) and used the High Tech parts from an earlier G model release.  I'm using the new Werner's Wings XM-158 rocket pods and some new TOWs from someone I can't remember his name right now.  I still need to add some AH-1S (Mod) to my collection, an early and a late one.  This will be perfect.

Floyd, I have a couple questions since you're here and working on this kit.

1) Do I need your Main Rotor Deflector?

2) M-159 pods with 10 or 17lb warheads?

3) Any chance that you will be doing some decal sheets for it? I want to build a 2ACR and a 4-7 CAV snake that my dad flew in Korea (81-82) in addition to the markings available provided in the kit.

4) I'd absolutely love to see how you put your HSS together if possible.

I think that is all I have to ask (for now).

To answer your questions

1) Yes, the main rotor deflectors were in use right up to the end of the Cobra in the Army inventory.  However, later variants weren't so stringent about having them.

2) Either could work.  17lbs stuck out from the end of the pod and 10lbs did not.  So 17lbs looks cooler.

3) I will not be doing a sheet for it.  Simply because I can't find any good markings to include.  That said I would recommend that you get the AH-1G sheet, if for nothing else the stencils.  The kit ones are at least 1/5-2 times as large as they need to be.  I built a 2ACR aircraft but it took two UH-60 sheets to get the crossed sabers needed for the front of the aircraft.  I don't know how to post photos on Britmodeler since I don't use a picture hosting site, but if you email me at [email protected] I can share photo that I have from the 2ACR that I got from some friends.  The only markings I've seen on an AH-1Q.

4) If you email me I can send you the directions on how I did it.  I'd like to take credit but it was Joseph Osborn who came up with it in 1/32nd scale.  I just shrunk it down to 66% and made it from plastic and Albion Alloy aluminum.

I'm almost done with my Q.  I should finish it today.  So, if you are on Facebook, watch my personal page, the Werner's Wings page or the helicopter modeling pages I frequent.  So far pretty happy.
