Il-28U “MASCOT” questions

Hi folks. Does anyone know if the trainer version of the il28 beagle EVER flew with wingtip fuel tanks. Enjoying making the bilek kit at the moment a wondered if any mascot would have been equipped with them. Also I have what looks like new clear bombs under the wings. Any idea what type of bombs these would be?

Aren't these fallout sampling pods?

Cheers,

Sorry, but the Il-28U never used wingtip tanks (These were only used on the Il-28R).

The cool looking "bombs" included in the Bilek Mascot kit are in fact PM-6G/R gliding/diving gunnery targets. These were only used on the Il-28 Beagle, but (unfortunately) never on Il-28U.

If building the Il-28U, you have a nice, detailed cockpit:

as well as some marking options:

The only camouflaged Mascots were those of the Egyptian Air force:

Unfortunately not :(

There is a very detailed tread about the Finnish AF Il-28s:

Yes and no.

In cold war times the German Air Force (Bundesluftwaffe) picked op some in the Baltic Sea and tested it on her Phantoms in the WTD 61,

Can't find the pic at the moment.

There are a couple of pics of these on F-4F 37+15 in AirDOC's Luftwaffe PHANTOMs Teil 2 - Die MDD F-4F Phantom II in der Bundesluftwaffe 1982 - 2003, in the WTD 61 section at p. 41.

Good stuff.  👍

Cheers,

Andre
