Airfield vehicles – A universal tribute to the groundcraft

Hello Mickael,

I'm proud to say that I'm the creator of these models, which are now moulded and sold by DESKit.:bounce:

My approach was to create a challenge for myself.
Since these models do not exist in 1/72 scale, I might as well make them. So I used my modelling skills to make the parts so that the modellers could assemble them easily.
Making and selling models is not my job, I prefer to build them! :D

Today I have added the Federal 605, the REO XS-29, the Federal Wrecker 606-C2 and 606D, and the 600gallon petrol trailer to the DESKit catalogue. You can see that my creations revolve around the subject of US airfields.

I met this craftsman at an exhibition and was impressed by the quality of his casts.

I've also suggested a range of American mechanic and pilot figures, with extra headbars.

Note that I have done this out of passion, that I am not advertising for my own account, but simply to share things that were very difficult to find in a 1/72nd model.
Apart from the box of Preiser American pilot figures, is there any other product that would go with this theme?

 Thanks for reading.

Regards,

Eric-Snafu35

My 2024 completions continue with an IBG Bedford QL RAF Bowser 1950s according to the instructions. This was my first IBG kit, some aspects were very good and some not so good. Overall pleased with how it turned out, apart from just noticed I have missed matt coating the AVGAS decals on the sides of the tank. I used an old Airfix ground crew figure for the driver, after suitably repositioning the arms.

Hello,

We can now find 3D printing model designers on the Internet.

I acquired two fire engines that were used on the airfields of the 8th Air Force during the Second World War.

The first is a Chevrolet class 110 fire truck:

Here it is at 1/72 scale:

The second is a Chevrolet Class 135:

Calling my 1/50 diecast Ergo cab tanker to an AEC Bison just about done.  Tank and pump gear housing are card with scratch built details

Are these available in 1/48?  Superb vehicles that you built there, Eric!

Hello all,

a couple years ago, whilst I was trying to learn CAD, I produced an AEC Matador bowser to 1:144 scale as a kit.  I then joined all the parts to make a complete model.

Both wartime (hose) and postwar (boom) versions were produced.

Note the full cab features inside, including the steering wheel.

the doors and pump system are separate files for ease of printing.

These are my amateur attempts to build bowsers for my own airfiield dioramas.  If anyone wants one of these as a downloadable STL file (or files if a kit) to print for themselves, then send me a PM with your email address and I shall send it/them ON THE PROVISO THAT THIS IS MY OFFER TO BM MEMBERS ONLY AND YOU DO NOT SELL OR MAKE ANY COMMERCIAL GAIN FROM THIS.

Although these STL files are to 1:144 scale, it should be easy enough to upscale to 1:72 (x 200%) or 1:76 scale (x 189.5%).

Cheers,
Mike

Hello Bootneck,

You have put together a great proposal for forum members, well done!
The lorries are photographed from a distance, but what I see is very attractive.
But I only do American trucks to go with my B17
