A small update of my progress. The turret is mainly build and what a pain. Too many small parts that are attached to the sprue with too large a gate. I have also made up the bar amour that goes around the turret, but I have not photo'd these at the moment as they are sitting on a piece of paper with their code letter next to them.  These will be added soon. I also do not like the brown dust cover at the front around the gun barrel as it does not go where it is meant to go, although I think I have got in the right place now and will be glued there.

Hi Jabba. Great to see you are still making progress - despite the issues. I must admit I do find the choice of location and size of sprue gates annoying/surprising at times. Even in the Tamiya kit I'm building for this GB there's been a couple of parts I've struggled not to break cutting them off the sprues - and in fact did break on eof the finer ones.

Good luck with the rest! 🤞

Kind regards,

Stix

Thank you very much.

Now the turret with the bar armour fitted. Some parts do not fit correctly fully even with a little adjustment here and there, but that is the way the cookie crumbles as they are staying that way.

Thanks Craig, yes it is a lot busier than I am normally used to.

A small update in that I have got some paint on the model, and added the wheels. On good point about the kit is that the tyres are separate from the wheel making painting a whole lot easier. I have also started on the tracks, and I am a little worried about fitting them around the sprocket at one end as it is close to the wheel cover. I think a little persuasion will do the trick. The kit comes with two styles of machine guns, one being a Chinese Type-54 MG, but I am not sure which one I should actually use. Anyone have any idea? A little weathering is to be done, I am thinking about the grills on the top, and is the square slot on one side an exhaust?

More later.

That is what I was thinking using the equipment that they were provided with (if it was by the Chinese), something akin to RAF Chinooks using the guns given by Boeing rather than using GPMGs.

Hi Jabba. Great to see it with the paint going on - it really brings it all together. And that turret looks really fantastic. I love all the extra detail.

Kind regards,

Stix

A slight update, but with no pictures as my camera ran out of battery just as I started to take them. I have applied the decals, a wash (hopefully not too much as I never done this before) and have made up the tracks. I may have made the tracks a bit too long at the moment, but I think that I can adjust them. I am now putting the camera battery on charge and hopefully there will be some pictures in the next day or so.

hopefully some dull clear on the shiny decal on the barrel.

Thanks for pointing that out as I had not noticed it. I will be doing some dry brushing this evening, so hopefully that get that sorted.

Thanks Craig.

Almost there. I was hoping to get this finished this weekend, but a few things did not really go to plan. I fitted the metal tracks fine on Sat afternoon, and thought that I would be able to fit the side skirts and such like in the evening. On one side where the skirt fits around the exhaust, the cut out was not big enough so I made the gap a bit bigger. Then the pegs that would help it have a better hold to the rest of the wheel cover at the rear were either too big or the new tracks were too wide. After cutting this down to size it fitted in a reasonable fashion, so I stuck this skirt on or so I thought. On the other side the same thing happened with the peg at the rear so this again was adjusted. This was then stuck on, but as the fit on both side was bulging slightly in several places on both sides I decided that some clamping was required. Four clamps were fitted and it was left over night to dry. In the morning the clamps were removed only to find that there were still some gaps, so more glue and clamps fitted again. Later in the evening I removed the clamps only to find that one side at the front did not match up with the edge of the upper part. So this was de-stuck, re-positioned, re-glued and clamped again. the clamp was removed that this morning and all was good. Also whilst having a general look about the hull, I noticed that one of the covers over the driver windows was missing and the other was just about hanging on. So a new one was made, and the other was re-stuck on. I still want to add to add some weathering powder to the tracks which I will do tonight. Sorry tha the photos are not as good as I hoped that they should be.

Hi Jabba. Sounds like you have been having a bit of your kit fighting back but I'm glad you managed to get it sorted. Looks like it's coming together really well now. Hope you manage to get it finished in the near future.

Kind regards,

Stix

Altogether now. Putting the turret on was a slight problem in itself. It fitted in the hole provided, but would not turn, and the sound of cracking of the bar armour made me stop moving it more. So I scraped off the paint on the inside of the hull, still no turning, then the turret with the same story. So I sliced some plastic from the tab on the turret so that there was clearance between the turret and the hull, and this worked. Apart from the final fitting of the last few parts this has been an enjoyable build and I would like the thank all that gave advise during the build.
