Jabba
For this GB I will attempt to build a Type 69-II of the Iraqi Army during the 1990-91 conflict. As I am stalling on another GB model, I am itching to start this one. Not normally being a target builder this might take me longer to build than the GB time length. Looking at the kit I will try and replace the track links with the metal ones that can be found. The kit. What's in the box. The individual sprues. Bigger parts and links. Another bag of bits. The instructions.

I think that there are differences in the front and rear parts for the edition of tank that I am building. The parts were glued together and then placed (clamped in places) on their corresponding lower part so that I knew that the fit would be alright. Hewy
It'll be a fantastic kit I'm sure jabba.a question though if i may in the painting instructions ,does it only give mig.ammo /ak ,paint numbers ,or are there others,?
Bullbasket
Hi Glynn. I can't speak for the Type 69, but in Takom's Tiran 4, Mig are the only paints called out in the profiles. John.

Thanks fellas, I thought so, my little mig t-54 kit only mentions ammo paints , takom and ammo have some sort of tie up ,some of the paint can't be matched with any other brands, and some are an already lightened shade, I've found a mig ammo conversion chart online but quite a few of the paints mentioned in mine have no corresponding match, I'm loath to invest in any other paints than what I'm used to (tamiya,mr hobby),
Silenoz
you don't really need to. My trick is using scalemates.com, 1999.co.jp/eng, super-hobby.com, ... if there is a scan of the (paint)instructions from other brands, and looking at the sites of decal manufacturers for color references...
Jabba
A bit more progress made. As others have said there may actually be more parts here than are really required, and hopefully all the wheels will be straight and sitting on the ground level. In the last photo the instructions say to fill in these holes, but to be honest when the wheel coverings are fitted you probably wold not be able to tell if they had been filled or not.
Bullbasket
Good progress. There seems to be some strange instructions with these kits. In the Tiran 4, it says to remove the semi circular extensions each side of the hull, and then gives you two new ones to replace them As far as I can see, there is no difference as I've dry fitted the deck and it fits perfectly. ?? PlaStix
Hi Jabba. Have you had chance to do anything more on this project? Kind regards, Stix
Jabba
Progress is being made, but a lot slower than I was anticipating. I have lost a few parts to the great carpet monster, even though I had placed the said parts onto low tack tape when removing them from the sprues, they just have a mind of their own when I try to pick them up. I am also not used to this manufacturer, usually having made Tamiya target kits before hand. So when I had to add the mounting brackets to the boxes on the rear of the lower hull, I was taken a bit aback. See the second picture. I had to wait until last weekend to get some plasti-card of roughly the correct size so that I could make a new mounting bracket. . Also the etch metal that has to be added to the part in the third photo is driving me a bit around the bend. Still onwards and upwards, as they say Rome was not built in a day.
Hewy
😋 losing a couple of parts isn't the end of the world jabba is it , i usually lose at least a couple of parts per kit just lately , in fact i almost expect it to happen, nice steady progress though
PlaStix
Hi Jabba. Great to see you are making progress but sorry you are having issues with disappearing parts. I seem to be dropping more stuff while I'm working on them these days. And yes - etch can be fun at times. Hope you manage to keep making progress though. Jabba
I have now got the top part of one of the wheel cover built up. I had a bit of fun attaching the small parts to the front and rear of the two set fuel tanks as the instructions (in my mind) are not that clear as to how they are positioned. It was also a bit of a task fitting the fuel tanks and their other associated fuel lines. After talking with a friend at work it was decided that the best way forward was to glue the tanks on and then whilst there were still setting glue the lines and other associated parts on. As mentioned earlier the front and rear small parts were already fitted to the two tank set and it was not until the tanks were finally fitted did I notice how they were meant to be fitted. So I removed these and then re-glued them in what I think is a better way. The single tank was fitted in the way of the two set, but I did not fit the front and rear parts until I had fitted the tank so that they are again in a better final position, as can be seen in the final photo. hopefully I have explained this as clear as I can, but is again something that I am learning with this kit along the way. The other side to start on now.

Jabba
After a few days off this one with the pre and post time of SMW I am now back to putting this together. I have glue the top and bottom of the hull, and then added the top of the wheel covers (sorry but I do not know their correct name) and I have also started the turret (although not as the instructions say). In the last photo there is something that I picked up at SMW.
