Looking good, though I don't thing I've ever seen so many gates on a kit, which means plenty of clean up but at least you shouldn't get a short shot.

.

That's what their machines seem to need, judging from their other kits. But they place those gates with care, see the wings, prop, ldg leg doors.

Even though I planned to pass on the P-43, I fear it will not happen 🤪

Well they've certainly got some nice details in there, such as the pieces that fit over the top of the cylinders that the ignition lead go through, most kits miss this detail. You know you want one 😛

On RFI there is a test build and I made there a comment on concave windows in movable part on cockpit, I think it was flat (like in case of P47) - concave in P43 is only the fixed window.

Please observe how the light reflects on movable canopy on this photo

https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/p-43/p-43a-40-2916-1941/

I would suggest to correct the canopy, I know it is very late already.... Or the aftermarket companies will do it...

It does look like what should be a subtle curve in of the spine has been carried too far forward and pinced too far in.

Yes; I think the whole spine area is too concave in cross-section.

Just wondered... If this was the first Lancer in USAF inventory, which is obviously the case, then why is the B-1B not called the Lancer II? Like Phantom II, Corsair II and Lightning II?

Because they came from different manufacturers?

The Corsair wasn't just the second of that name...  I suspect that the earlier Lancer was simply not famous enough to rate being complimented in this fashion.  However, there was a Lockheed Lancer that had a lot of coverage some years back but never was built, and it wasn't a Lancer II either.

I take it only the same manufacturer has a practice of calling its new aircraft a "II". The first versions of all the II ones in your list come from their originating manufacturers respectively and I would add the Thunderbolt II as well (P-47 and A-10 from Republic).

@KillerMig - Good remark on Lancer. BTW in fact the F4U was already Corsair II and A7 should be Corsair III. The Corsair I was O2U.

Wait a second, thare was also Vought SBU Corsair!

So F4U should be Corsair III and A7 Corsair IV  ! :)

Cheers
