Andy350
When would you choose to use each, I have both from Vallejo and am not sure when to use either?
roginoz
FWIW, I use grey as a general purpose primer [on most models] and black when I need a base for a silver coat or when the model colour calls for......black. Black also serves as a variation colour, among others, for a black-painted model. HTH Rog
bentwaters81tfw
Black is a good primer for yellow as well.

Troy Smith
black primer can also be used for the painting technique called "black basing" see https://doogsmodels.com/2014/07/03/technique-black-basing/ or just google it up
ElectroSoldier
The primer will or will not reflect the light, if you want a darker hue then black under yellow but the same yellow over a light primer will make it more vibrant
