P-47D Leather Headrest

spacer.pngspacer.pngUpdate to this thread,

Hello, newbie here,

I mainly build large scale r/c model aircraft, and I find the plastic modeler forums are a great source of reference material for my builds. My current project is a P-47D-5-RE, in 1/6 scale, of the 5th ERS, Boxted, England. My search for information on this a/c has led me here, and I find this particular thread very interesting. It shows me that the plastic modelling community is as fanatic about scale details as we are in the r/c community. My quest for information on the P-47 has allowed me to build quite a bit of documentation, and to perhaps bring a definitive answer to the OP, here is a engineering drawing from Republic Aviation of the actual headrest in question. The notes at the bottom should answer the question of headrest material and color. The information block at the bottom right shows which model P-47 used this headrest. Thanks for all the great photos on this site! Note: this site does not seem to recognize my image hosting service, Imgur, so I have attempted to add my photo using code. If it does not show, then I ask what is a proper image hosting site that will show my pics here? If my inserted code does show, then disregard...

Welcome to the forum, Jesse!  Thanks for the lead, but the link didn't come through on this end.  I tried copying and pasting the relevant URL and got an Imgur error message.

I post images via Flickr, which works pretty well.  If you don't want to sign up for another hosting service, we can probably figure out some workaround.  Picture posting difficulties are part of Britmodeller's unique cast-iron coal-fired charm; I think it's down to the Lucas electrics.  🙂

Thank you for the quick reply,

It seems that Flickr is the best option for me. I've managed to upload the photo.

Thanks again!

Still learning this site's little idiosyncrasies! Now is there a way to make the pictures enlarge by clicking on them, or is the image posted as-is? I'm used to attaching large photos that can then be enlarged on the forum by clicking on it.

Anyway, here is a blowup of the notes section of the drawing.

This site's image attachment methods are a force to be reckoned with!

Jesse

Just add the link of the full size image and the forum will automatically resize it if it's large so when people click on it it will then show full size.
