Might as well jump into the pool. Found this buried in the stash, the Eduard/Mauve P-40N. Got it several years ago from a friend who only wanted the US skull and shark-mouth markings from the kit. It includes some PE and resin bits and the decals for the RCAF aircraft and RNZAF "Gloria Lyons"

Some units flew with them in the CBI Theater. I forget the reason, something to do with aerodynamics most likely. Here areca couple of photo’s.

There is some belief that they were mounted backwards when they were filled with napalm, I have seen a picture of a 76 FS P-40 with the centreline tank on correctly and tanks on the wing pylons reversed. There is a short video of a P-47's wing tanks being filled with napalm and a detonator being installed in place of the filler cap,

P-47 Napalm Tanks

Due to an unfortunate ground handling accident, the asset suffered Cat. A damage and is a loss. :banghead:

Not to be deterred, join me in a new thread opening soon.

Getting up from the bench to get some water to clean brushes and snagged the box with my sleeve. The box managed to hit the floor and scatter its contents just where and as I put my foot down and crushed several bits. Some seemed to have disappeared completely.

Better to happen now than just before putting on the finishing touches.

Cheers,

Rich
