Mancunian airman
Released inn 1953 . . . . https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=appointment+in+london+1953 The Link will probably tell you more about the film but there were three aircraft used, Mk.VII's and very few mods will be needed to be made to the model, 1958 Airfix kit. Serial numbers are known along with the fictitious squadron codes. Well worth watching the film despite the love interest. I digress. W/Cdr. Mason (Dirk Bogarde) flew V-Victor but I need to check my references as two of the aircraft had the mid-upper over the bomb bay, the title may change to either B-Baker or P-Popsie 😋 I have an Airfix stand so it may be built in 'in-flight' mode . . . 🤔 I'm not at home at the mo so I will post photos of the kit when I am. Corsairfoxfouruncle
Wonderful ... The Lancaster has always been my favorite WW2 bomber. Looking forward to this.
malpaso
Some of the Lancs were reused on The Dambusters. There's a making of article available. I reckon as a B&W it's a good chance the colour scheme would be DG/MSG/Black as for the later film. https://dirkbogarde.co.uk/magazine/after-the-battle-nov-1999/

Mancunian airman
The kit . . . . Still sealed and with the stand. Straight away I can see that I shall have to fill in the windows and remove that blob of a mid-upper fairing 😜 Edited September 30, 2019 by Mancunian airman
Mancunian airman
The mid-upper fairing removed and the white piece indicates where the new turret will go, the Mk VII had its turret over the rear of the bomb bay More to come . . .
Mancunian airman
Filled in those pesky windows . . . . and added a dab of paint to check whats what I also dug out some white metal paddle blades from Aeroclub . . . . strangely I found the very end tail section from a Lanc that will come in handy as I intend to place a 0.5 gun turret on the back . . . .
Mancunian airman
Not much to report but some progress . . . . The engine went together well and it was a case of eliminating the joint seams . . . Windows totally disappeared following a touch of Mr Surfacer, just need to re-instate some rivet detail. I cut the existing tail turret position off as it was just to narrow . . . . Undercarriage in the process of being painted The main wings are glued together but I am considering altering the wing tips to give them a better shape appearance . . . . Thanks for looking in 😜 Ian
Mancunian airman
Slow maybe but some progress . . . . I think its that time of year when I get the runnie nose, eyes etc😭 but being the tuff type that I am, I carry on 😜
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Just a friendly reminder that we've reached mid point in the build.
DalekCheese
Oh, this is nostalgic to a whole new level! Got that kit when I was 9 or 10, still got the lanc! How’s it going?
