The first "international" spaceman, if I recall i.e. not a native of the two space faring nations capable of putting humans into space at that time (the USA and the USSR).

Actually he was third. Remek from Czechoslovakia and Hermaszewski from Poland (where else, with a name like that?) were ahead of him.

 

I have a list which at the moment only goes up to 2008 but shows that at that point people from 35 different countries had flown in space. Only three, of course, had flown as part of their own national space programme. I'll bring it up to date and post it here.
