Serkan Sen
The windshield and glareshield areas were corrected and now the windshield and the canopy fits well. Maybe I should think about building single piece canopy to make closed canopy installation easier. 😁 Serkan
Serkan Sen
I have launched another Blackbird thread here: I am wondering which one will be completed first!.. 😁 Serkan
Serkan Sen
The glareshield was painted to black and final corrections were done before final painting; Serkan
Serkan Sen
I have decided to improve the afterburner area before starting paint: This improvement was reported in the following thread: Next is to add afterburner rings and finish both Blackbirds. Serkan Sen
The afterburner rings were completed. The M-21 afterburner ring design was slightly modified to make it more realistic: In above photos the right one is the improved afterburner ring model and left one is what was used in M-21 project. It was not an easy task cutting four ultra thin rings (less than 1mm width) and place them over tiny brackets... 😅 Serkan Edited February 27, 2020 by Serkan Sen
Serkan Sen
Clear parts were casted, dipped into Future/Pledge and masked for painting: Next is to place them and start painting the airframe. billn53
Nice job on the afterburner rings. Overkill, perhaps, but then who am I to say (he who is installing tiny throttle controls in a diminutive Fox Moth) 🤪 1

Serkan Sen
The engine parts were painted and assembled together: And here is the fit test of both engine assemblies: Next step will be placing windshield & canopy and painting whole aircraft in black. Serkan Sen
I have noticed that inboard elevons are also missing 😁 They will be of course added before painting. 1 1
Robert
So is it black or a very dark bluey-black 🤔 Regards Robert Edited February 28, 2020 by Robert

Serkan Sen
The elevons were glued in deflected position and entire aircraft was painted in black: And the sisters together: Next is to apply panel lines shading and wheel bays detailing... Serkan Sen
All panel lines were shaded with light ghost gray... 90% thinned black mist coats were sprayed: After several mists here is the result: Also the canopy and windshield were positioned: There are some areas to be retouched but these are minor problems. Next will be the wheel bays and fins. After then the aircraft will be coated with Future/Pledge and the panel wash will be done. Serkan
billn53
Your preshading turned out very nice! Not so easy to do on an overall black aircraft. 1

I am afraid that I have applied too many mist coats which makes pre shading almost invisible. I think we will see the result after clear coat.
Graeme H
It certainly coming together now, love what you did with the exhausts, I think with the preshading, the less is more principal applies seems quite distinctive to me as is. 1
LorenSharp
Excellent job on the pre-shading and overall colouring. Making dark colour variations ,especially black is not easy to make look good. It doesn't help when the surface is subjected to high heat in different spots and looks more a very deep indigo than black. Well done Sir! 2

You won't see it on a real aircraft, so subtle is the way to go. It looks great! Ian 4
