I didn't realise she wasn't actually still on RAF charge when I was allowed to play with her, or that she was open to the public - I always had her to myself - but maybe that was because it was always around 6am....!! You and me both! But my sanding is now restricted to plastic stuff. After 40 years of doing all DIY myself, I've rebelled and told 'er indoors (who always claimed ' i can't paint)if she wants decorating done it's 'do it yourself) or get a man (or woman) in! It's worked so far.....!! Good progress on the Sunderland, you've done more on yours in a few days than I managed in a few months on mine! Keith Thanks Keith I've tried that line with Mrs B in the past and we usually 'have a man in' but, now that I'm retired, it seems that becoming a painter and general handyman is 'cheaper'. That said she has done most of the prep work… 'Keith's Sunderland' it is! As a Mk III, as she was, to avoid any scratch work - I'm not that mad! 1 hour ago, Biggles87 said: Nice cockpit detail Ced, especially the plywood seat! John Thanks John Plywood? It's supposed to be leather! I blame the camera… Using up Interior Green: I can hear you shouting now, that Xtracrylic is US Interior Green! Well I know that now! It has allowed me to do what I'm calling 'interesting paint effects': Note the white Stynylrez on the 'graffiti ceiling'. While that was out I blasted a wing: Hmmm. It's not filling the cracks really is it? I'll try another coat later and see what that does.

Have you considered loading a brush with Klear and filling the trenches with that ? (and letting capillary action fill the voids) 34 minutes ago, CedB said: It has allowed me to do what I'm calling 'interesting paint effects': and mighty fine they look too Ced. 2

(and letting capillary action fill the voids) Thanks Alan - that sounds 1) like a good idea and, more importantly for me, 2) really easy… The Klear didn't 'flow' down the lines at first but, once brushed along the line, additional liquid did indeed fill with capillary action. Seems to be working? Hard to photograph but I'll try again later. In other news, give a man enough rope: … and he'll spend ages trying to get it looped in a 'military fashion', wrapping it around various objects only to have it spring apart again. Eventually I looped it 'manually' between my fingers and stuck it down with some handy GG Thin. I hope this holds it: A bit of tension in the thread (see what I did there?) We'll see how it turned out later (or will we?)
Brandy
Er, I don't think those are "cracks" Ced. That's like calling the English Channel a stream! CA seems popular elsewhere for filling those thongs, then sanding back and rescribing, but I'm sure you don't want to go there.... As for the graffiti, if it has to be clean, how about "I think, therefore I thwim". Perfect for a Sunderland! Ian

No he doesn't Ian, he really doesn't (I still have the (mental) scars.....!!) 3 hours ago, CedB said: I'll try another coat later and see what that does. I'd have suggested a coat of polyfilla! But hendie's Kleer idea looks interesting.... Keith
CedB
Thanks Ian I like that graffiti, definitely in… Thanks Keith - I have enough Polyfilla in my 1:1 life But wait… Cracks? What cracks? Good enough for the ceiling? I know I should have let things dry but hey, 'Bake Off' is on. Of course I now have a wing that's a complete mess: …but far less messy than filler, sanding and re-scribing. Thanks Hendie - you're a star! I'm not sure that 'aged white' is going to be used though… perhaps for some variation? Thoughts? Now then, there a several fnaars to be had from the anchor but I will avoid them and just show you this: Tamed the beast! I think I will rust up the winch a bit and wash the floor with something, just so it look 'less modelly'. I've also scanned the ceiling, imported it into Inkscape and tried some graffiti: I'll be printing it on decal paper and I'll have to cut out the 'bricks' but it looks doable. Honestly, the things we do for fun… BTW that was printed on the Canon printer I bought for decals - remember the £30 offer a while ago. It hasn't been on for ages (since Wacky Rabbit I think) and it looks about four minutes to warm up and clean itself and four second to print that page. Still, can't complain…

Look chaps, I know it's hard to keep up with the Speed King, but really? Having consulted my familial thong wearer and asked her (please, don't even ask how I have got a number of bruises) if she's used CA for filling thongs, I can assure you all that women don't use CA.

Thongs for the memories John and Bill Now then, this graffiti ceiling: Part 2c it is. I thought 'Reversed View' meant that it was back to front but wait: It means upside down! So the ceiling is the floor! Grrrgggnnn… I think that means that, sadly, the Graffiti FLOOR is just going to be even more silly than the ceiling, so it's NOT going to be I'm afraid… sorry chaps. here's where it got to: Sometimes the madness gets subdued… 3

Plenty to do putting Klear in the 'trenches'… and a haircut.

Except the anchor was only used at away bases (where normal mooring was not available), so very little if any chipping etc. would be on/around anchor Normal mooring was by way chain/rope through the mooring bollard to the mooring buoy in the Buoy Trot as in below Regards Alan 7
