Seamus
Morning all, Whilst up country for the Victory Show on Saturday, it seemed rude not to take advantage of the Viggen's attendance at Southport. A 600+ mile round trip in total via Cosby and Blackpool but worth it just to see the this magnificent machine. The Tunnan was a pleasant bonus too. Filler
Great photos Shaun. I went to the show on Saturday and whilst it was enjoyable, it wasn't great for photography. I was on the promenade and it was a bit far back, and by half past two the light had swung round and meant a lot of silhouettes. Because of that I made a very last minute decision to dash over to Blackpool airport on Sunday afternoon, arriving as the Tunnan was taxing out. Sadly didn't do a lot of research or have time to have a scout round. You seemed to get yourself in a much better spot that I did. The Viggen really is a just wonderful aircraft. Seamus
Thanks very much. My original plan was to give Southport a go on the Sunday as I wanted to see it display properly, but a combination of the light at the time it was due up and the added hassle of crowds during and traffic after the show, as well as seeing images from their arrival on Friday made the airport a no brainer. We were fortunate to have been in exactly the right spot for when the Viggen turned on the runway, it was different every time he took off it seems. You always need a bit of luck in this game. It's a decent airport for viewing to be fair, though it will take something equally as special to get me back up there from Devon next year! Mikey-1980
I very nearly went to the show as we go every year. Unfortunately after a bonkers week and almost 4000miles traveled, far too exhausted for this, now I am gutted I missed it. Some fantastic photo's of the Viggen though
