Really coming together now, not too much remedial work on the seams either!

Thankfully not Roger, which is a blessing (she`s a big bird)

Not bad at all, Simon - little more filling and sanding and you're done

Ciao

Yep G. have filled in for now and just waiting for it to go off.

I might be able to base coat this weekend, hopefully.

Thanks @f111guru, yes a few little bits left to do before base coating.

OK folks, not much done until now, and that is not a lot.

The exhaust pipes, cleaned and drilled out to 0.7 mm (I did not want to go any larger in case I damaged them)

Not a good one I am afraid.

And them all together awaiting paint.

IMG_1759

Numbered as well.

And that seam problem?

IMG_1760

We will see after a coat of primer.

Just a couple of minor bits to do now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks @giemme, will check it out.

Well , I added the nose section on temporary to lay down some very, very light grey.

IMG_1785

Some rough bits need tending to.

And on the wings too.

IMG_1786

IMG_1787

Will leave that a while to dry before lightly sanding back and applying a second coat.

I still have some work left to do concerning the under wing stores though.

There is not a lot of instruction to how exactly they fit on to the pylons.

Anyhow some thing for me to mull over with a coffee and biccies.

Until then.

Thanks @giemme, @Hamden, @f111guru, @Corsairfoxfouruncle and @The Spadgent,

On with the show then, after a quick rub down of the rough areas, another coat of H311 (Very Light Grey).

IMG_1794

And the nose cowling too.

IMG_1795

Time for a coffee now I think?

Also around the guns was not as tidy as I thought.

Thank you @Corsairfoxfouruncle, @giemme, and @Hamden .

OK, looking through the box of bits left and noticed that the Arrester Hook was busted.

IMG_1808

Oh well, C/A it.

IMG_1809

Not a chance matey, looks pants!!!

IMG_1810

Or you can try and pin it.

With a pin inserted both sides you could make sure they are aligned, then you could rework the joint by adding CA + flour or even just CA and reshape accordingly

Thanks @Corsairfoxfouruncle, and @giemme.

OK, not a big update but it`s a posting.

Rear wheel/landing gear dotted with X 11 on the bolts etc.

IMG_1811

The main gear had the discs painted XF 56.

IMG_1812

I will paint the faces X 11 , leaving just the rim Met Grey.

Now that tail hook!!!.

I cut a bit of 1.00 mm strip to length (About 23.00 mm), and drilled 0.5 mm holes in either end.

IMG_1813

I then chose to use longer bits of rod to fit into the holes.

IMG_1814

Things going well?

No !!!.

I successfully cut the hook off and the tail fixing bit.

Drilled the tail bit no problem (sorry no pic yet)

Went to drill the hook bit and disaster!!!

It went through the side....

Balderdash and prognostications .

So I now need to build a "Hook bit" .

Off for a cogitate overnight.

I'm not a huge fan of this aircraft but the work you are doing is truly wonderful.  It is really an excellent primer on re-detailing and simple upgrading.  In short, I may have to build a Skyraider now just to say I've done it!

Why not sir, a large enough canvas to work on with out taking up masses of room.
