Avro Anson London School of Flying, Airfix 1/72 vintage kit conversion

Recommended Posts

A second conversion of this old kit, into an elegant civil flying school machine.
The step-by-step construction post is here:

A commissioned Arctic Decals set was used, as well as part of an extensive photo-etched set by Flightpath.

The first conversion can be visited here:

Not an easy transformation, a bit of a challenge as described in the building post, but the results are pleasant.

I've rarely seen the old Airfix kit looking this good. Nice one.

John.

With their limitations no doubt, old kits can be rescued and turned into decent models. I start them as a quickie, but almost invariably get tangled into a complicated build!

Very good result from an interesting and challenging WiP - superb Moa :)

Thanks CedB, turned out ok, could have been better in more capable hands.

Very nice, Moa, and deserving all the praise here. That framing would have driven me crazy!

You are very kind. I dream now of photoetched frames.

A lovely job Moa, that is a beautiful we gem you've created.

Steve.

Thanks Steve!

It (eventually) turned into a pleasant model.

A great model only let down by the unlikely sunshine the pictures were taken in, rather than the expected grey murk of the SE of England!

Shall wait then for a gloomy day to re-photograph, which in California happens once in every ten years.

Just wonderful, Moa.  A beautiful model of a rather charming aircraft.  What you are able to achieve from such an old kit is truly outstanding.

You are very kind. Since I grew up in a country with little or no access (or too expensive access) to modeling things, I am afraid of messing-up "good" kits, and feel more comfortable butchering old molds.

Another masterpiece from the Wizard of the West.

Nah, but it turned out nice enough.

You are all too kind.

Great job there Moa. Love the cockpit framework. I think that harsh Californian sunshine is washing out the lovely paint job you've done.

Stuart

Thanks Stuart

That frame drove me nuts. The sun is washing out my neurons. My wife loves heat an sun, I love cold and weather.

In our marriage, we have reached perfection.

We are perfectly incompatible.
